I've never scaled down, the only thing I've tweaked is icon size on the desktop. I don't have trouble reading anything, I just wanted slightly bigger icons to click lol, desktop seemed empty when they were so small. (changed font size in windows from 96 to 120 dpi)

And yea, I got matte because I hate glossy, but I can't really complain about the huge resolution :p

even i know 1200p is an overkill on 15", but I prefer matte finish and 1200 p will be great for editing images - i want my photos to look the same way they look in the camera LCD, when transferred to the PC!

lol, yea, it's not necessary to have this res on a 15", but I like it. It took a day or two to adjust from the really low res of my last computer, but now it seems normal and my other computer seems huge :p

i've had mine for over a year now.. and my hinges are starting to break apart.. nothing big atm though.. a screw is loose but thats about it..

had problems with hdmi, but that was fixed very quickly by alienware , other than that, it's really nice... i wish i could use the integrated graphics card more.. but even without it on the 8800 with sbb, i get 3-4 hour battery life.. and there's usually plugs everywhere now.. :S

i don't know what i should do about the hinge because it's such a small thing right now.. don't want to send it in for a week or two just to get a computer back that may or may not work :p

i ordered mine with turbo cache too.. i took that out because it was reallllly slow/bootup problems (im on ssd anyways)

Have had mine for about a year now; no problems at all so far. I do have to watch my temps when playing certain games (Stalker, Crysis, L4D) and give it a chance to cool down every once in a while, but man it sure looks good when playing!

How is the m15x for WoW and LoTRO? That's all I play so I'm a bit curious as to how the new baby that's still at the mothership will perform. Anyone? :) Thanks.

I have had my m15x since about late september. I've had to send it back once for a hinge repair and some other minor issues -had a keyboard falling off, thought my 8800 was running a little hot. They ended up giving me a new 8800, keyboard and full casing replacement.

Wouldn't have expected less from the time that they had it there.

For WoW the m15x performs beautifully. Running WoW at 1920x1200 resolution is lots of fun and I get max fps everywhere but dalaran (running everything on the highest settings).

Had mine since October of 2008 and it's gone with me to Oklahoma, Georgia, South Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois, Germany and France. It's put up with the rigors of travel and general military life for 9 months and the only complaint I have is a broken hinge. Great laptop.

I have had mine for over a year and had the hinge issue, but that's just cosmetic (not why I bought the laptop). I love the performance. I'm also having another issue that I'm working through now, but still pleased overall.

Have had my M15X since last August and I love it so much that it made my mALX expendable!

WoW runs very well on it, no complaints at all.

I love the lighting, everywhere I go this baby is a "head-turner"! :)

Oh and I love the "Smart Bay"! I have the extra battery and 320gig 7200rpm hard drive and that gives me so much flexibility with this beauty :)

yes you can. or at least you could prior to the release of the new m17x.
but the offer to purchase should still be there...
