Well first of all I have been using my Alienware since the first day that it arrived, from heavy use to just watch movies, and I have only had 2 big issues with it and it was master ATI 3870 died and mobo.

I have been reading a lot of threads saying that Dell/Alienware are just very expensive plastic things that don't last longer and that they don't have any good customer service (Not in this forum only). So I decided to write my story to encourage those future new owners. :)

I have been in love with Alienware since around 2007. I was at high school so I decided to take a job to start saving my money to buy my beast gaming machine, unfortunately my car died and other stuff happened that make me wait more to buy it. At my first year at collage I was really in love with the custom painted AW so I talked with my brother and we decided to buy the machine together. So around September 2009 we finally get the money to buy it! It was so hard to decide what part to buy, to many options, but the money wont be enough to all those options! :(

At the end of the day we decided to make it:
Intel Q9000 (I think it was this one)
    4GB memory
    500GB raid 0
    ATI 3870 x 2
    1920x1200 resolution
and of course Skull Back Panel

The moment it arrived it was lighting fast. I was more than amazed of how fast this thing was! I was shock of how biometric and face recognition software could work so easily!! I didn't get any problem with it until around 5 months that I start noticing the very well known Quad Core "stutter" (I think that's how is called). But Alienware took its time to try to solve it. I talk with 3 different AW support members and the one that spent less time trying to solve it spent around 5 hours.

The last member make some kind of solving with installing Windows 7 ultimate all over again, installing every single driver, AW software, testing if everything was working. Amazingly this procedure took almst 2 days to be completed. I literally called the first day around 9 AM he started the procedure I went to collage and leave my brother with him at the phone, went back from collage and they where still working with it. He even told my brother to hang up the phone (I'm from Puerto Rico, so the call wasn't free) and he will continue working with my AW and if I need something or he need something he will contact me with the message thing (I don't know if that exists right now).

Around 9 PM he told me that he was about to go home, because he was almost out of work. So he left my AW some kind of stable and told me that he was going to call me the other day at 9 AM. I didn't believe him (I have been told that many times from other companies and I'm still waiting the call), but he did call me! Right after I started the service so that he could work with my AW he continued working with drivers and software. Finally around 3 PM he finished!! We test the laptop in 5 different games and benchmarks and it was solved! If I just could remember his name I would definitely call again just to tell him thank you for just an amazing customer care!!

I have been telling to anybody that wants a computer to take a look at Alienware before taking any decision. So far this have worked out, my brother bought an M14x, his friend bought other M14x and I'm currently looking to build my M18x and I'm sure that my brother will be following me, even building it or buying it directly to you Alienware.

Thank you very much for this 4 amazing years! and for such an beautiful and amazing computer! Keep it up

My journey with alienware has many parallels to your story. I first read about alienware when I was in school, in a magazine called Digit. At the time, I would drool over the machines alienware would post in their ads in the magazine, and would be star struck with the looks and the specs. I used to think that I would never be able to afford such a system, and that it belonged only to the elite rich people. When I look back at those days today, being on my second alienware, I cant help feeling the joy and contentment that comes when you see a long held dream fulfiled. I am thankful that I have been able to afford two such machines (so far ;) ), and have loved every minute of it. So far I have had zero issues with my second alienware; its in its second year now and its still going strong.

Alienware isnt just a company for me; never has been. It has been more of an extended identity of mine. The experience hasnt been without a few hiccups (for example, am not really a fan of their depot service), but most of the time it has been a stellar ride. I pride in calling myself the owner of an alienware system, and when the time comes, will pick up another one over all other brands in a heartbeat. Thank you alienware, for all the fantastic moments. Keep up the good work :)

Actually when people ask what computer you have I'm like: "I have a Alienware M17 R1" and they are like wow Alienware. Even my programming professor came to me and ask me: "How much you want for that Alienware?". I just smiled and said: "Sorry is not for sale" :)

...Thats another parallel then - My brother back home had offered a handsome price for my last alienware (m14x), and of course, I declined it too :D

I found funny that even people that don't use AW computers have more respect to AW that some customers.

I went to the apple store to compare my AW with the newest Apple laptop back in 2009 and my brother was wearing the AW cap that they included in our order. As soon as we enter both the manager and the worker said: check out dude Alienware! We tried to be as professional as we can while we was seeing the laptops and hearing them talking about how awesome AW computers are in front of their customers.

That make me still feel that this $2,400 that we spent worth it! (My AW was at special offer)

    Hi people!

As an Alienware representative I just wanted to thank you all for your support and comments. It's great to be part of this company and help people get back on gaming when they have issues but it's even better to see that even after having small issues the love still remains.

    Sincerely,

Im in love also with my m17x R4. Im loving it actually. I've been owning it since september last year, and it's a hell of a laptop. Even though I own a macbook pro, my serious one remains the R4. It's a beast. Will never go back to another brand. It cost me 2.200 Euro with all the upgrades, but it's indeed My perfect laptop.

Yeah, alien wares support is great... Though sometimes you need to twist their arm. At least in the end they one through. The only thing I want to see improved is quality control

Nice stories! I would also highly recommend Alienware to anyone after a gaming laptop. Had my M15x 3 years and it still kicks ! Alienware hit a perfect compromise between size/mobility and power with the M15x imo. Couple that with the MXM slot which allows me to run even brand new gfx cards (some require tweaking) and I can't see myself needing to upgrade for another couple of years at least! Probably why they stopped making it and started making the non-upgradeable M14x?

I've had absolutely zero problems with my M15x other than ones I've caused myself. Its an absolute beast! Can't wait for the addition of a 7970m!
