So a family member of mine was able to use thier company discount to nab me a M15x. I originally thought he ordered it with the 1400x900 screen, but it came with the WUXGA screen. Just wanted to know what people thought of theirs. Also he only ordered it with 2gb ram, in which I upgraded immediately to 8gb in which I had already. The HD I used was a 500gb 7200rpm Seagate. So far so good. I do like the lighting system, just needed time to get used to it. The only gripe I have is the overall condition of opening and closing the lid, coming from a M6400 and M4400 there is definitely a difference. Anyhow if anyone else has tips for me, please advise me as this is now my first ever Alienware I have ever owned.

This thread has all the info you need; from what I've seen, this model has quite a bit of "character" (read: problems) which hopefully have been resolved since.

This sub-thread is of particular importance as it outlines what problems have been fixed and which ones are ongoing, such as the defective hinge problem: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=284634

as far as the larger pixel screen, i have it and would never go lower. i like the matt look vice the gloss you get with the lower rez screen.

    Like how horrible?

Also CC has a problem in 64bit were it leaks memory, so make sure the CC (Command Center AKA the lighting program) is off and is not running in the background.
You should get scores ranging from 8500-9500.
Just try diffirent drivers from LV2G, and see which ones you like best.

Also make sure you are not on the intel chip and the computer is plugged into the wall and the battery out. I leave my battery out unless I am wanting to move it, this will help preserve the battery's life. And that your power settings are on High performance.

Well that is too high for the intel chip. Check stealth mode? EDITED last post.

I am running the notebook drivers off of nvidia, and I scored a 10090. THis is stock, no overclocking. Just Vista was heavily tweaked.

I forgot about the silent mode, basically I will use it in that mode for everything else and when I game I will then turn it off. Any suggestions on a notebook cooler??

Thank you. I tweaked my arse off and I am just trying to break 11000. Really a cooler is a personal preference. Most of them will do the job, but as far as aesthetics are concerned, it's really your call.
