Has anyone heard about a software by Microsoft known as SteadyState?

SteadyState can only be run on Windows Vista 32 bits OS.

I understand M11X is pre-installed with Windows 7, has anyone successfully installed Windows Vista on M11X?

    Verify system requirements
Windows SteadyState works with genuine versions of Microsoft Windows XP with SP2 or SP3 installed, Windows Vista, and Windows Vista SP1. SteadyState works on 32-bit versions for the following operating systems: Windows XP Professional, Home Edition, and Tablet PC Edition are supported, as well as Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, Ultimate, Home Basic, Home Premium, and Starter. The hardware requirements are the same as for Windows XP and Windows Vista, so any computer that runs these operating systems well should also be able to run Windows SteadyState. See the Windows SteadyState Handbook for more detailed hardware specifications.

I have SteadyState running on my desktop which runs Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits.

What I am worrying is that once I installed Windows Vista on M11x, some drivers might not work??

You will be kicking yourself in the balls after you install vista on your M11x. Vista is Windows ME all over again. (I guess history DOES repeat itself) It actually makes sense to look for a W7 alternative of steadystate than the other way round

    Ok, just curious...

This is from the SteadyState FAQ:

    What is Windows SteadyState?

    Share computers, not headaches
What state is your shared computer in at the end of the day?

Hard disk filled with downloaded files?
    Strange options configured?
Programs installed that you don't want?
System infected with viruses and spyware?
Computer bogged down for unknown reasons?

Do you have to have your M11x in an environment that would cause these issues?

    Is it your Primary computer?

Could you run Vista on a virtual machine while your computer is shared, and have 7 for when you are on the go and gaming?

Google DeepFreeze, does the same thing, without needing Vista.

I took for suggestion and pointer, it looks like what I really need. From the information I've got, they are equivalent in functionality to SteadyState. Yet, I have to prove it by reinstalling Windows Vista 64 bits to see if it works. I have not got M11X yet so I don't have Windows 7 to test with.

Thanks a million to your help!!!!!!
