I am looking at new ram for my m15x and I was looking at this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231165 with the heat spreaders to try and keep the laptop cooler for a bit. One review says they fits but wondering if anyone else has seen or tried this ram in their m15x before i go ahead and order them.

mmm... I'd be careful with those heat spreaders. They increase the thickness of the chips. In the m15x, the chips are stacked on top of eachother, and this MAY make for a problem. Maybe not - but possibly.

yeah that was the only thing I was worried about was them being thicker and i have seen the pics on how the ram is and don't want them to be to thick to fit properly

If you look at the reviews next to it. In the quote below. But looking at the other reviews on it. It a tight fit and so on other laptops So the best idea is to call a alienware rep. Have them look at the ram and then let them help you.

Heat spreaders are nothing but a gimmick and can actually increase the temperature of the RAM.

You can do much better than $100 for 4 GB of DDR2.

At one point I agree Lithus. But at other point I disagree. I think it all depends on the setup.

hmm well i think it might just be better to play it safe and go with the corsair ram that was recommended in previous posts and it seems others have used the same and fine with them. so will be a good choice.

Before you buy, you should contact Alienware's tech-support and find out what brand of RAM is certified and guaranteed to work with your laptop.
