Don't have an m15x, but isn't there usually an option in the bios to set the sata hard drive into ide compatibility mode so that it is recognized by the install cd?

XP isn't that good though. 2000 was better than XP, and Vista is also better than XP even though most people don't like it.

I don't think our BIOS allows us to do that.

I tried loading that driver into nlite and burned it as an iso, still had the same issue, not sure what I did wrong.

Vista should be backward compatible to older software that runs on XP and even Windows 98. There is an option to set the compatibility with software that runs on XP or Windows 98. You should try that before you dump Vista.

Still not able to install XP on my system.

I loaded those drivers from the wiki in nlite and burned at least 3 copies on different tries, but still the same result.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I'm not sure if I got the Intel chipset on there correctly, could this be the problem?

    Stop Right Now!
There is a simple reason why Alienware requires you to buy a Floppy drive for machines with XP. This is the reason why, go out and get yourself an external USB floppy drive. Then Download the SATA driver from alienwares website copy the driver folder with txtsetup.oem onto the root of the floppy and then start up the machine with the floppy connected run XP setup and tap F6 when it says at the bottom press F6 to.......

they charged you 3K and not giving you a free floppy drive nor let you change the BIOS? This is truly alien technology. seriously how much can a floppy drive cost them? this is ridiculous.
