Well, the drive is a SATA hitachi HTS722020K9A300
I'm looking into http://www.vlite.net/ to fix the problem we've been having. I'll tell you how it goes. -
you have to slip stream the SATA drivers onto ur xp disk I used nlite
-
Where can I locate the driver?
-
my hive or you can go to a wiki FluffyRug made to help people with fixing the alienfx he added the drivers to his page. http://danielclegg.com/publicwiki/AlienFX%20Problem.ashx

Don't have an m15x, but isn't there usually an option in the bios to set the sata hard drive into ide compatibility mode so that it is recognized by the install cd?
-
well from what i can see, not on the m15x, theres not much u can change on the bios.
know i actually finish installing Windows Vista Ultimate, to see if somehow it was better than my Windows Vista Home Premium, the anwser is, MORE PROBLEMs! SOOO
xp i need u!!! -
XP isn't that good though. 2000 was better than XP, and Vista is also better than XP even though most people don't like it.
-
is not that i dont like it. actually i do like it a lot.
the think is i use some programs wich names im not gonna get into. that have problems whit Vista. and i do NEED THEM A LOT...
i like vista alot i tried to find ways to fix this programs into working whit vista for a long time. so i need to go back to my XP till the stuff i use upgrades to been usable whit vista. -
why you guys make it so complicated? lol
I had the exact same problem with my sager, contacted xotic pc and solved the problem within 2 minutes. all you need to do is disable AHCI from BIOS -
I don't think our BIOS allows us to do that.
I tried loading that driver into nlite and burned it as an iso, still had the same issue, not sure what I did wrong. -
where can i find drivers for vista ultimate 64x for the m15x video card. the 8800gtx
-
Vista should be backward compatible to older software that runs on XP and even Windows 98. There is an option to set the compatibility with software that runs on XP or Windows 98. You should try that before you dump Vista.
-
im traying to find the damn ST9200420ASG drivers
-
I loaded those drivers from the wiki in nlite and burned at least 3 copies on different tries, but still the same result.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
I'm not sure if I got the Intel chipset on there correctly, could this be the problem? -
Stop Right Now!
There is a simple reason why Alienware requires you to buy a Floppy drive for machines with XP. This is the reason why, go out and get yourself an external USB floppy drive. Then Download the SATA driver from alienwares website copy the driver folder with txtsetup.oem onto the root of the floppy and then start up the machine with the floppy connected run XP setup and tap F6 when it says at the bottom press F6 to....... -
bla don't worry about that man try this download the SP3 for Xp and slipstream onto your xp disk that should do the trick let me know if that doesn't work. (these is what I did)
-
I'll try that then.
-
-
Tried XP SP3 and slipstreaming the drivers.
No luck still -
ok b4 you waste anymore cds i'll see if i can find the drivers i used.
-
That would be great.
-
just you let you know I'll be working on guide for a dual boot on the m15x should be up tonight.
