    Hi guys,

When i moved to windows 10 few months back, my camera stopped working. Simply no drivers and its unrecognized in the system as shown in the pictures below. I escalated this in the past and after failed attempts to fix it i made clear windows 10 installation that actually helped and my camera was fine again(it worked before moving to windows 10 of course as well) Suddenly week or two weeks ago or sth ther was an update in windows that caused this bloody problems again. I cant make a clear windows installation again and i am trying to solve it every single day without any success. Can anyone help me please? I will list all the things i did so far

1.Of course tried to install automatically drivers but it finds nothing
2.Tried to look for the drivers in the internet but found nothing
    3. I Uninstalled it in the device manager and tried both ways to get it back by refreshing it and finding hardware again and by restarting laptop after uninstalling it. Nothing worked
    4. Tried Dell detect and everything is up do date
    5. Was told to look for this hardware id and this is what i found, but couldnt find drivers anywhere
    USB\VID_1BCF&PID_2B83&REV_2261&MI_00
    USB\VID_1BCF&PID_2B83&MI_00

I dont have any options more and really no idea what to do more. I would be grateful for help

Drivers should be included with Windows as native support exists since Windows 7 forward. As such, no proprietary drivers exist since they are essentially unnecessary. My M18xR2 web cam works normally with Windows 10. Odd that yours is pitching a fit. Have you tried installing Dell Webcam Central? Maybe that will do something to get Windows 10 to install its own webcam driver. Otherwise, I don't know for sure what to suggest.

Have you already tried using the FN combo key to toggle the webcam on and off again? I have found Windows 10 sometimes does some goofy things with WiFi cards and toggling them on and off a time or two sometimes makes them start working correctly. Maybe that will work for your webcam. It may be that the USB driver you are using is causing a problem. Have you checked to see if newer USB drivers are available?

If you meant Fn+F9, yes just tried it but nothing happen. I read about that Dell webcam Central but i just cant find a place to download it from. Only one site with FTP Us dell server but during downloading it stops every single time. I dont have it on their site with drivers. Do you have a link to it maybe please?

As for that USB drivers. How can i do that? Basically from the screens i posted i double click that unrecognized Integrated Webcam-> Integrated Webcam Properties open and when i click to update drivers and search automatically that 2nd screen pops up. That "windows found driver but encoountered an error" :(

Try uninstalling the driver marking delete the the driver software checkbox if it's there. Then go into 'Universal serial bus controllers' and uninstall all
Intel(R) x Series/xxx Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controllers'. Hit F5 for refresh and they should re-install, webcam should re-install as well.

There will not be any later USB drivers available since USB 2.0 and even 3.0 use native Windows drivers since Windows 8 I believe.

Sorry if i sound stupid with that. So i uninstalled that unrecognized driver and now from this should i just uninstall that Usb 3.0 Extensible Host Controller or also both Intel 8 Series/C220 Usb Ehc1 and 2?

I thought this will help when dell webcam was installing but once it finished and i restarted pc i got "please plug in a supported device" message and at the bottom "no supported webcam"

I also uninstalled both entries you mentioned(didint tick delete while doing it) and after i did that and also uninstalling that unrecognized webcam i restarted laptop. Tried it twice but its still same, nothing changed :(

Try ticking delete the driver software too.

Try loading Linux live CD and open VLC media player. In VLC if you press CTRL+C and enter, it should open your webcam. This will test if you have a software issue in Windows or actual hardware issue with your webcam.

tried with delete and didint work

Can you just explain me how can i use linux live cd please. http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html - should i download it from here, burn on Cd or just USB and load it from the boot? I have never used Linux at all so no idea what to expect. By doing that i wont have to install anything and will just open some kind of a desktop where i can download VLC and try that ctrl+c as you said? Do i understand it right?

Linux mint will be the easiest option I think:
    http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=204

Yes, just use a USB (2GB+). I will include the instructions shortly.

Rufus for making a bootable USB:
    https://rufus.akeo.ie/

These are the settings for UEFI bootable Linux mint:
    rufus-options.gif

Mint comes with VLC player pre-installed. The strange thing is the webcam did not work in VLC on my R4. I am pretty sure it was working before. There will be another software to test the webcam. What is even stranger, webcam stopped working on my R4 for the first time ever with a driver error and it was not re-installing properly until I did the following:
    uninstalled it again
turned it off (FN+F9), gave it 10 seconds and then back on
scanned for hardware changes to re-install it again

It works fine again now, really odd :)

I'm glad you fixed it and its not me who would cause you same problems. I downloaded that Linux Mint and will try that VLC tomorrow morning as you explained. Hopefully something will come up there

I am nearly 100% sure its just this drivers/software/windows 10 issue. I did not use camera lately but there were some updates installed in recent weeks. Everything was fine before so sth must have happened there. Cant see any problem with the hardware

Its exactly same issue with this unrecognized driver and Usb Device Driver problem as when i moved from windows 8.1 to Windows 10 with update. At that time i decided to make clear windows installation and it helped. But cant do it now. Got to find a different way and its so frustrating trying so many things and still have this not working

Managed to do it quickly before going sleep. Opened Vlc in linux mint with that Ctrl+c and camera was on. Great quality, all was working fine. No issues at all

EDIT: When i do Fn+F9 in windows nothing happen at all by the way

I am glad to hear it's just a software issue and your webcam is fine.

I am not sure what else to suggest except for the recovery. Maybe delete the same drivers in a safe mode... Webcam is a usb device, so maybe deleting all usb controllers and drivers in safe mode might help.

I just did it and unfortunately still same. I tried to refresh in safe mode after uninstalling, as well as deleting and restarting laptop.

The only thing i noticed is that when i Uninstall the "Intel R 8 Series/C220 Series #2" controller, that urecognized integrated webcam device delete as well. When i remove #1 its still there.

Probably nothing major but thought i can list it up. Such a pain with this, unbelievable. Is there anything else i could do? I forgot to do a backup after windows installation and full apps i need, so by making clear windows installation i would have to start all again from the scratch wich i really dont want to do :(

I guess you already tried uninstalling #2 Intel 8 series controller, then turning off webcam, waiting 10s and turning it back on, then scanning for the hardware changes. I don't know what else to suggest to sort this easy without recovery.

No, nothing should happen - there is no feedback that the webcam is turning off and then back on. Especially since when you uninstall the driver before turning it off, the system would not be aware webcam is even present. It should reinstall thought - at least it did on my older R4 as per my previous post...

Terrible. Still same. Is there no option to get drivers for it somewhere?

Correct me if i'm wrong please. From what i understand now is that my camera wont work until i do recovery so in my case, clear windows installation again.

Well that's the issue. USB devices (including webcam) do not require any drivers in Windows 10 - they use Microsoft generic drivers.

    Just thought of something else:
Try opening the properties of USB root hub (one at a time), then Advanced tab and click reset hub. Do this only for 2 usb root hubs and not usb root hub (xhci).

Can you revert Win 10 to its initial installation stage? See if that addresses the problem.
