    Hello everybody,

I'm opening this discussion to inform others and ask about international warranty transfers.
I recently purchased a new m18x r2 in the UK and then had it shipped to Italy where I live. And the laptop works perfectly :D
A few days ago I submitted the form for ownership trasfer to transfer the warranty from me to... me :D (although the first me is in the UK and the second one is in Italy) The transfer was succesful and now in the product page on the Dell website correctly reports the country as Italy. However the mail that informed me of the succesful completion stated the following:

This seems to imply that next business day support is not available here, which in my opinion is understandable, as it's very unlikely that the italian division of Dell stocks spare parts for a model which is not imported here, so it would be very difficult to have the needed spare parts for a repair in less than 24 hours.

Now, the product page reports two active warranties for the laptop: 3 years of LS (does anyone know what that means? I found online someone mentioning "Limited Support", can anyone confirm? If so, what does it imply exactly? Is it exactly what was written in the email? And if so, does that means that I can still request parts only service instead of having to send the laptop in?) and 1 year of Next Business Day support. But how can this be? If they can provide 1 year of NBD, they should be able to provide 3 years of it, as I originally purchased.

So, can anyone elaborate on this?

    Thank you very much,

    Andrea.

Call Dell, their internal policies are very complicated.

Dell's support may be limited differently based on your countries laws. You can call your local Dell provider to check the specifics for your country.

The limits mentioned are probably related mostly to onsite service, NBD shipping and that sort of thing.

    Thank you for the answers.

This is not urgent, as the systems works perfectly right now, it's only for peace of mind :)

Anyway I'll drop an e-mail to the local support in the next few days and ask for detailed explanations of the warranty conditions. I'd have to contact tech support in any case to see if I can order an Italian keyboard for my machine (the italian keyboard could not be added at the time of order as that keyboard is not available for the m18x r2, but in a previous thread here on NBR I was informed that the part numbers for m18x r2 and m17x r4 keyboards are the same, so the italian keyboard from the m17x r4 should fit my m18x r2).

    Best regards,

    Andrea.

So, just an update not to let this thread become one of the many "unanswered questions" that inevitably populate internet forums :)

I contacted Dell support regarding the matter described above. I got a confirmation that the 3 years of NBD are still active (without limitations) and that what is shown on the website is incorrect. I have no way of actually verifying whether the statement is true (and honestly I hope I never have to verify it :D ), but, lacking elements hinting at the other direction, I would assume that the guy at Dell support is correct. Will post back (provided I remember :p ) if I find out later that this is not the case.
    Oh, and keyboard incoming!

    Best regards,

    Andrea.
