    Hi,

Two days ago I was watching a movie with my wife with my M15x under the tv. I found that the AlienFx was quite annoying (the speakers mostly) when watching the movie in a dark room. The question is, how many of you would be interested in an iphone application which could change the alienfx lights as long as the iphone is connected in the same network as the machine. The application would be free of charge and work with the current line up of all powerfull machines (M11x, M15x, M17X R1/R2)

I voted "Yes." Nice idea, and I'd love to be a beta tester. Also, to make it less of a "one-trick pony", how about adding basic remote control functionality to the app? For example, you could remotely shut down, log off, lower/increase volume, etc. Also, maybe you could add functionality to remotely control the version of Cyberlink PowerDVD included with AW laptops.

I dont mean to sound negative, but couldnt you just as easily make the machine go dark before starting a movie just as quickly as going through the process of activating an app?

yes I could, but I forgot before hand and couldnt bother to pause the movie, open the lid and turn it off.

This is an idea Im throwing into the public and want to see how big ghte interest is, as I wanted to have a go at doing applications for the iphone anyway.

You can already do this if you have a jail broken Iphone/Ipod touch.

I did it on my Ipod touch and it works flawlessly...

Man I love these kinds of somewhat useless, but awesome apps on the iphone. I am so in. Are you going to develop the app (do you have the skills)? I'm just curious.

make sure you a cross platform developer and I would use it quite often if it had basic remote functions.

maybe a wireless track pad like some other apps.... then I would prolly pay :p

BUMP! I refuse to allow this thread to fade away. I really think we're onto something. Think of what this could lead to. First we have the ability to change the AlienFX lights, then we can change the volume, then we can add media buttons (play/pause, next, volume, etc.), and so on and so forth. In other words, we're essentially creating a cross platform remote that works with a lot of today's gadgets. This is a GREAT idea and I am willing to help out in any way I can. Just let me know!
