I thnking of changing my M17 order from the 1920x1200 display, to the 1440x900 simply because I feel more comfortable on that res.

However, I realized that the 1440 display is not a 'Clearview' display, so my question is: Is it Clearview really that good? Or just hype?

I think "Clearview" is AW Marketing speak for a Glossy screen.

for me m15x clearview is like bright and shiny reflective.
It is almost like purchasing a mac screen

I would personally say yes. Others may argue that...but I really like it better than the non-clearview.

I have the non-clearview screen. I think it's better producing less reflections. I have an acer notebook with the glossy screen and can't use it out on my deck because of reflections.

    what exactly is Clearview???

I am glad I went with a 17" RGB LED screen from LG which reproduces 105% of the NTSC color gamut, because for Photography I need the most precise color reproduction.

So sad the m17 does not offer it.

the 17 RGB LED screen is the best I've ever seen in terms or response times and lag. It would be awesome for gaming.

DELL just cuts corners here and there.

Would you say that the non-clearview display is more bright and vibrant when compared to the Acer?

clearview/reflective screens are treated to be reflective for the very purpose of having more vibrant colors and being brighter...

Clearview it is... I suppose I'll have to use e-wrecked's drivers for 1440 then.

good decision. 1440x900 on a 17" would be huge anyway.
