This might sound rediculous but here goes:

I just bought a new m15x and I love it so far. However, the one sticking point is that the 1600x1200 screen is slightly too high of a resolution for my work.

Is it possible to swap out the screen for a WXGA+ (1440x900) lcd panel?

    Thanks!

    Hi darkus,
It is possible to change the LCD screen. However, that involves major disassembly, requires a DCSE technician, and an option to do so. Unfortunately, there is no program in place that allows you to change your screen without voiding your warranty.
However, two options would be increasing your icon size or lowering your resolution in your video settings.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Gabe, Thanks for the response.

I generally know my way around computers and changing parts, albeit on desktops, never on a laptop. But i'm certainly not afraid to dissasemble the screen and remove the LCD.

I was wondering, do you know if I could buy a 1440x900 WXGA+ intended for the previous generation m15 and simply plug and play it on my current m15 ? Are the locations and screw locations on these laptop LCD screen generally universal?
