Ive had a quick read of the forum and some people seem to think that a refresh version of the M17X is on its way, is this true and how far away is it ?

Is the RGB LED screen much better than the WUXGA ?

I just don`t want to buy now if a new M17X is on its way, also what are Alienware like as a company ? I`ll be using my laptop mainly for gaming, what are the positives and negatives of this machine ?

I can 100% guarantee you a new one is on the way. I can only give 5% on when with a 10% plus or minus margin of error.

    I'm patiently waiting.

But if it offers 90% of what you want at 2/3s of the cost now.....

A reasonable and common advice for computer buyin' is buy when you need, don't wait for the next gen to show up, because something new will always show up in a matter of months.

There should be something new early summer. June, possibly.

But if you need a computer now then yeah go ahead and order. If you can wait that long than wait.

I'm waiting for the June refresh, USB 3, DX11 video are on my "must do" lists. However, sometimes you can't wait, so that'd be your choice :)

As for the RGB LED screen, 95% of folks who get it love it like crazy. Probably some of the best upgrade money spent on this machine. Apparently the screen is so popular it frequently enters backorder status because it is in such high demand.

    Hope that helps.

Is it quiet under normal use ? It won`t bother me if its noisy when i`m gaming as i`ll be using headphones.

If you order online then yes, if you order through a rep and try to get a good deal then no because they will lie to your face and hang up on you without hesitation.
