Ok, thanks for info.... i don't like tinkering, sorry, lol, i like things to come out of the box & "work" when its cost this much.... i'm happy to tinker a year or two down the line when an upgrade makes sense to me, but not from new....

I'll have to contact dell i guess regarding HD's.... still don't know if there is physical space for dual hdd's & an ssd ? if not then it seems ssd & big hdd is best performance option ?

    Cheers

There's a space for 2 2.5" drivers, be it a SSD or HDD.
So best option to go with is probably SSD + 7200 rpm 500gb HDD.

Cheers for that.... i'm going to be very "noobish" now.... SSD's wern't around when i last bought a gaming laptop, so assuming i went with an SSD & a 7200rpm 500gb, how big does the SSD "need" to be ? i.e. what do i put on it for best gains from using one ?

Doesnt the 820 have as much cache as the 920. That would seem to be an important advantage over the 720 ? Perhaps someone could clarify this.

max, there's seriously TONS of info on those forums regarding this issue. Use the search... but as a rule of thump you'd want to put the OS and all the apps/games you want to load fast on it and keep your music/pictures etc on the HDD + keep everything that gets rewritten/modded out of it.

Cheers, that's great info all around, as it turns out dell uk only currently offering 256 SSD anyway, so if i want one from factory, that IS my only choice, ill use search for further info !
