I'm not the best with computer's so maybe someone out there could help me or tell me if this is normal.

I got my m15x today and after downloading all my essential apps I began to monitor the hardware and such.

First thing I did was download CPU-Z to observe the core speed and strangely it seems to be constantly fluctuating between 1196, 1595, and only sometimes 2493 Mhz (which is what I thought was supposed to be the normal core speed). This is all on idle mind you.

Temperature's were normal via HWmonitor, power setting is balanced and stealth mode is off. Any thought?

are not cpu's built today to act as such to minimize heat realted faults and to maximize the life of the cpu?
    i could be wrong.

and maybe it is what otaku said...btw - what the heck is stealth mode...lol

@Rizz1e: That is normal thats is what Intel calls speed step technology. The cpu lowers the speed as to lower the temp and maximize battery life. It will go back up to 2.4 when it needs to

@ryujin" Stealth mode downclocks the cpu and gpu to make your battery last longer.

    Ah, should have known, thanks.

Still it's curious because it's not like I'm blazing through things while I multi-task. Ive definitely noticed quite a bit of lag here and there.

only binary needs a reboot. stealth mode is one of the touch buttons you just press to activate.

No it is a one shoot thing, if u active stealth mode there is no way of getting out without dismantling the laptop and then take out the CPU and change the clock on it back to normal. Changing a clock (overclocking or underclocking) is the same with any watch, you just take it out and put the pointer to what cpu speed you want. But you gotta look out and use preferably a facemask and gloves when you open the computer, because there may be computer viruses and worms inside your computer that jump out and infect/eat you if you dont protect yourself! I usually just keep frag grenade nearby if there are any big ones hidden in there.

Completely off-topic though, yes if you push the button again you deactivate it.
