So, i got home from school and saw that DHL box :p Rapidly opened it and got to the Alienware box :p

So here i am, its all up, currently not connected to the internet until my router comes through the post.. but my first impressions:

    Pro's"

    No screen sound when opened
Minor screen wobble, only wobbles when you actually physicly try to wobble it.
No scratches, blemishes, fingerprints. Except the top of it had some dirt on.
    Looks great, no problems.

    Con's"

Well.. i don't think the touch works. I turn it on, i setup my account for Vista, got in and i tryed the touch controls but.. well they do nothing.

I will make a full review as soon as i break it in, will post specs.

    3dmark06 score: 10,823
    Specs:

    T9300 2.5ghz
    2gig ram
    120gb 7200 harddrive
    8800M GTX

    Very very sensitive touch controls.
Very fast wireless internet, faster than my desktop
Quite big flex near arrow keys, dips around 1cm

Congrats! Sounds like a winning system. My skullcap is in phase 6 atm, so hopefully I'll be able to join the excitement next week sometime.

Now go load some games on that sucker and give us some benchmarks.

What's even more pleasing is that he's in the same country as I, and he's got a "good egg" by the sounds of things. :)

Elto... a lot of people seem to be saying that the touch controls didn't work for them on first start-up but worked from the second. I guess I'll not panic now then when I am in the same position. I guess it's just Windows sorting out the various drivers.

I think I'm even going to name my laptop. :D
(Slightly off topic, Elto... but as you live up north from me, what's the price of chocolate there? I just paid 48p for ONE chocolate bar! I don't remember them ever being that expensive. Must be to do with this economic crisis our country is facing at the moment. They said that food prices had risen). :(

    @Syth, Thanks :p
@Gunsmith_cat, 30p for a chocolate bar here, and no, stuff homework. Unless playing crysis at 3am in the morning is homework.

Btw, i just played Crysis as a benchmark, Got quite hot to the right of the touchpad but plays great! been playing on very high @ 1024x768 rez ( which is perfect, no blocks or anything.

Oh... can anybody list some games worth playing (besides the ones I plan to play which are: Crysis, Bioshock, Far Cry, Orange Box, Stalker, COD4)?

I LOVE survival horrors, so if anybody has found a decent survival horror, let me know. (I've bought Playstations - and the Gamecube/Wii - just to play the Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles. So anything similar to those really).

The laptop dips in around 1cm?

Are you sure? The laptop is only 3.3cm tall, I find this really hard to believe...

if you like racing games you should get Grid. it runs great on my m15x and its even more fun when im playing it on my momo wheel.

You should also try devil may cry 4 for pc if you did not get it on the xbox/ps3 yet.

For survival horrors, there is Resident Evil 4 for the pc. thats about the only thing i can think of for now.

Wow, Miho, thanks so much! That's given me a brand new collecting incentive. :D

Exiled... I've completed Resident Evil 4 a couple of times on the Gamecube already, and completed the Wii version too. Not sure I want to play through the whole thing again on a PC. I don't think Resident Evil would play that well on a PC. I'm a controller person on those games because I've grown up using a controller with the REssy titles. I wonder though... do they do decent console style controllers that can connect to a PC via USB? And does it 'feel' the same to play a console title on a PC? :)

Thanks Friar. Would you get a wireless version of that controller? I'm not sure about the X-Box controller. I've never been comfortable with them like I have been with a Playstation controller. I would imagine the X-Box controller would be more supported on a PC though, as the X-Box is made under Microsoft too. Unless anybody here has used a Playstation controller in their PC with the USB adapter... ?

Yeah it works great. I bought one from good ol' Liksang.com before they closed up shop. It's fully supported. It remaps all of your buttons and none of them are lost. Even R3 and L3 exist ;) Good stuff.

I was thinking the same thing, dipping in 1cm is half way through the hard drive?

1 cm is almost like 10mm isnt it?

Thanks everyone :p i love this forum!

And yes, my heart also skipped a beat when they didn't work :>
and i actually got a ruler out, measured the dip and its 4mm so.. i guess that was the worst estimate ever xD

Yea, im stealing next doors internet to until my router comes, there internet cuts out every 20 minutes though, making it very difficult to play games but its just a minor annoyance.

I will be putting up a full review with pictures either tonight or most likely tomorrow morning/afternoon

i wanted to play some games, got temps, make sure i got it all done before i make a review.
