3d06 = 1801... is that possible.
I'm using forceware 180.48
I also tried 180.70

How did you uninstall your old drivers? Could be an issue there. Also, could any running tasks be interrupting the test before it finishes? Looks almost like an integrated intel score...your 9800M is recognized within 3DMark, right?
-
Read the details of your machine as detected by 3d06, you're running on Generic GPU. That means you do not have proper driver installed or running on integrated. Look for any problem devices under Run->devmgmt.msc (Device Manager)
Also check run->msinfo32->components->problem devices to see if there are any device which is not loaded properly -

The CPU speed is fine. That's Intel's SpeedStep technology coming into play. It adjusts clock speed dynamically according to your needs, so it should be normal to see it jump up and down.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
it is not jumping, it is staying st at the speed.
-
Even when you're doing something intensive? Because this is what I get.

also, I have tried 3 different sets of drivers in my vista 64, and all of them keep freezing my screen within a minute after windows loads. but if I am using integrated graphics, no freeze there.
anyone else noting freeze ups with 64 bit video drivers? -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
ok, nm about the cpu, just ran prime 95, and it jumped up.
-
Yeah, looks like your CPU is running fine then. Now you'll just have to deal with your GPU drivers.
I can't say for sure if it happens in XP 64, but there is only a few drivers that run at the correct speed in XP 32. I can't really use any of the more updated drivers (or at least, I haven't found any more updated drivers) that would run at the correct clock speeds.
Edit: Sorry, I'm trying to provide as much help as I can, but it's kind of hard to pinpoint (or recommend solutions) when nobody else with an m15x uses XP 64. You're the first one, my friend. -

Great, I love being the first...
Which is the best way to remove the driver I'm using, I usually go thru the device manager.
and Is there anything else I should do inbetween installing drivers? -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
BTW, 3d06 is showing that I'm using the 9800m gt.
-
Uninstall it through "Add or Remove Programs." It should be listed as NVIDIA drivers. Though it's not necessary, CCleaner before installing new drivers.
-
Its not the nVidia which is causing the slowness. If you look at the device manager there are lots of devices which are missing drivers. Basically these are on board devices and it seem you do not have Chipset driver installed.
Search for Intel chipset driver for WinXp x64 or Win2003 x64 (they both are same) -

Yes, I have looked all those up, USB Audio, dadada, nothing that effects video. and if you can find me another chipset that would work better, that would be great, this is the only chipset I could get.
Chip ICH8.
I am wondering, could there be something wrong with my video card? I am having problems with it in vista, and XP. -
I doubt it. Have you tried it in Vista 32?
-
try this chipset and once done, reboot and try to auto update drivers if still unresolved.

I don't think the chipset drivers are there. It only has the integrated graphics driver and the Intel matrix storage manager drivers.

I ran 3d06 on the vista32 in the smartbay, got 10211... not bad eh.
thanx vikas, I'll give it a try tomorrow, got to get to bed here soon.
thanx for finding them though. -

CCleaner will only clean out the registry entries of the driver. Driver Sweeper removes all the other files too, so i recommend you run both programs.

Cool. Thanks
It'si gotta be the driver... Right?
