I'm going to purchase a refurbished Alienware with a core i7-2760, but I just lately checked with Fudzilla and found out that Ivy Bridge is comming out pretty soon with better specs (expect to be 20% more performance) compare to sandy bridge. (link Intel's mobile Ivy Bridge CPU line-up revealed by VR-Zone.com)
Should I purchase the alienware (m14x by the way), or should I wait for Ivy Bridge to come out?
From what I have heard, Ivy bridge won't make much of a difference other than die shrinks for ultrabooks. The architecture being used would be the same and won't make a big improvement other than for their lame graphic card like Sandy Bridge. Should I just go with sandy bridge now and later on upgrade with haswell/broadwell/skylake? (evidently I don't have the money to upgrade processor every time they come out with a new one.) Or if I want to upgrade to Ivy Bridge, would the socket for Sandy Bridge works for Ivy Bridge?
I just want to make my money worth and my computer can last 2-3 years at least. Any Discussions about future Ivy Bridge (IB) vs. Sandy Bridge (SB) are greatly appreciated.
