Interesting... My local (Switzerland) AW/Dell dealer has since today the new revisions of the Alienware notebooks in this program (m14x R2, m17x R4, m18x R2) - but not with the Sandy bridge cpu's but with the Ivy bridge CPU![]()

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
don't even make sense why the offer the M18X with 7970's if is not even out yet for the ivy don't surprise me

I don't know what you mean - both components are out since a few days:
Intel® Core? i7-3610QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)
Arrival of Full AMD Radeon? HD 7000M Series Graphics Lineup -
I think Speedy_Gonzalez meant they are not offered by AW yet. 7970 seems like a potent card and the CF price is not really that high judging. I wonder what 680M will offer. I am pretty sure it will beat 7970.

From what slickdude80 said, the 680M was/is slower than the 7970m from "can't be ided internal folks" so at this point, I tend to think 680m will be slower than the 7970m. The 7970m sounds to just be engineered better for this iteration and I don't know if nVidia an do anything to change that...
Either way, I tend to not care and just go with the fastest based on price/performance since money isn't unlimited. From the bulk of other users, both companies have had their issues.

Its unlikely 680M will be slower than 7970M. If it is, it will be marginal at best and nVidia will have to price it lower. Either way I'm waiting on nVidia, I love their driver support too much to ever go red again in the near future.

Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
most of the bad driver support we experience with AMD or Nvidia comes from SLI or Xfire a single GPU always have good support from both sides at least in my case

I see in the US it's normal to have the Ivy Bridge option in the notebooks but not in Europe e.g. Switzerland here you can only get the new revisions with Sandy Bridge CPU's.
