Wow... 52 of them. That's quite a few. I cannot imagine paying the same price for a AW 14 as a AW 17.

Yeah .. true. Wait till the coupon starts dropping these babies. Its going to sell like hot cakes, and I am sure prices sold here from members will be comparable to the outlet price.

On that note, I cannot wait for them to add the Alienware 18s.

No, not necessarily. Alienware laptops have been sold in the Outlet for as long as I remember. After all, they need to recover as much as possible from the systems returned by customers. I am just surprised at how many they seem to have suddenly. That is more than I have ever seen at one time before on a newly released product.

If they don't release a new BIOS/EC update that fixes the fan tables and CPU performance deficit pretty soon, we may see quite a few Alienware 18s in the outlet before long. Some folks are getting very anxious about why it is taking so long to do this.

Why would that be bad? Why would you want to exclude price-conscious gamers from the joining the community?

On an odd note, all the AW 17s seem to have the 765m. Unrelated issue, or are 17s coming back with fried video cards, and they're putting in the (probably overstocked) 765ms as replacements?

That is entirely possible, Hybrys. The 3DMark performance results are not particularly impressive by 2013 standards... by design, it falls right between 580M/675M and 770M in 3DMark performance.

    • GTX 580M - 384 Cuda cores, 256 bit and 96.0GB/s (High Score: P8858 3DMark 11 in SLI)
    • GTX 675M - 384 Cuda cores, 256 bit and 96.0GB/s (rebranded 580M - has same capacity)
    • GTX 765M - 768 Cuda cores, 128 bit and 64.0GB/s (High Score: P9382 3DMark 11 in SLI)
    • GTX 770M - 960 Cuda cores, 192 bit and 96.0GB/s (High Score: P9968 3DMark 11 in SLI)
    • GTX 680M - 1344 Cuda cores, 256 bit and 115.0GB/s (High Score: P15413 3DMark 11 in SLI)
    • GTX 780M - 1536 Cuda cores, 256 bit and 160.0GB/s (High Score: P16765 3DMark 11 in SLI)

I'm glad Alienware is affordable for some of us. Historically, the 18s have been quickly purchased by resellers with probably coupons...Would be curious to see if that's the case again.

This goes back to my thought that the 18 will always hold it's value better than the 14 or 17. There's just less competition/probably supply, etc...

I agree. Had I not just spent $2k on family bday presents (f my life) and signed the lease to a new townhouse, I would be all over the 18.

Good price but isn't that 750m a pretty weak card? I think the 660m GTX is better, of course I could be mistaken as I am not always tech savvy with graphics cards and all the different numerical versions.

750M is a pretty weak GPU, but it is much better the than Intel HD graphics that most 14" systems would come with. The 14 has the GPU integrated on the motherboard, so there is no upgrade path available. But still, $867.30 is dirt cheap. That would be fine for someone that seldom plays games and just wants something nice without a lot of horsepower.

That's sort of what I was thinking. Not worth it as I have a 660m GTX.
