I never got around to makign a CPU guide

open the bottom service panel open the Heat sink on the right and under it you will see your cPU.... turn the knotch and pop it out then put in the new one lock it in and then put thermal paste and then put the heat sink back on ( clean off the heat sink to )

Moo, when you say overclocking in the BIOS using zFactors .28 BIOS you just mean adjusting the multiplier right? No other controls?

That's how I do it. I'm not a fan of FSB switching as it stresses all your components as opposed to just the CPU. For me it's always been more unstable. I know others have gotten theirs to be stable with the FSB overclocking, but I've NEVER had good luck with it since my original days of overclocking (AMD K6-2's....to 350mhz hence the Ovrclck350).

People are having the greatest success making a bootable USB to install the bios. Here is Zfactors How-to.

When you boot up, I'm assuming it runs the autoexec.bat as it's telling you to press B.
My problem was my disc wasn't seeing the rest of the files needed.

Are you then at a c:\ or a:\ prompt?

If so, type in dir *.bat

Make sure that b.bat is listed.

    Then type in dir *.exe

make sure that phlash16.exe is listed.

    Finally type in *.rom
    Make sure W840_028.rom is listed.

If one of those 3 is missing post up.

if you make the stick bootable first and then copy the extracted files from the bios to the bootable stick it should work fine.

Some CPUs are just like that when overclocking and usually not much you can do about unless you throw some more Voltage at it .

Ive seen people with Qx9300s in M17s that are stuck at 3.06 or possibly less so its always a hit or miss .

    I bought the Q9200 for 2 reasons

1.Price of the Qx9300s is stupid expensive now even on the ES CPUs and not worth that price IMHO.

    2. The M17x seems happiest at 2.93ghz for now, so i can save some cash and get the same exact performance as the Qx9300 :).

Now i just have to hope it works properly in the M17x but im almost certain its going to .

I know they suddenly disappeared . I imagine like all the CPUs on there give it a day or week and they will be back , seems ES CPUs are getting snatched up fast especially anything Quadcore.
