mate do let me know how the odyssey briefcase is when you get it....i want to know if it has compartments for your files and other office related stuff and how does the laptop fits in...i mean does it touches on the edges or does it have enough room and if the laptop fits in properly or does it move around when you carry it...oh and one last thing...does it have a compartment or space for the charger or not....thanks

I'll do a mini review on the Oddessy Bag and the questions you raised concerning its useability.

    hey it's mj!

the 5750 is great (if get one that doesn't over heat) it's very slim for a 17" notebook and very mobile imho (I've had 2 of them, and still have 1)

    look forward to your review

put "Coretemp" on it and turn on the logging function. Dont think there's a temp sensor on the GPU but it will be same or higher than CPU temperature.

Well, the seller paid an extra $90 for FedEx next day air cause he was busy at work and didn't get to FedEx on Friday like he said he would. I opened the package and every thing was there like the description. The M5750 was in perfect condition (like new) - very happy.

I wiped the partition on the drives and reconfigured with a fresh Win XP Pro install. Loaded Symantec Corrporate Anti-virus and then Down loaded endless Win XP updates. All running smooth now I downloaded Win XP Service Pack 3. Excellent no problems so far and I almost perceive its quicker than SP2.

Loaded serveral games Quake 4, Doom 3 & Resurection of Evil, Quake Wars. Configured them to High Quality 1280x1024 full screen. They run smooth as silk and look great - very happy. The AW lappy runs very cool after an hour of full on gaming - no issues.

Included DVD software is unique - turn laptop OFF - push the media button it tuns on the lappy without booting into Windows and then plays the DVD movie - rather strange for me. I also downloaded VLC Media Player for when I'm in Windows - very versatile player. The 1920X1200 WUXGA resolution is awesome - you younger guys will love it - me actually needs my 1.5 power reading glasses for the small fonts (20 years staring at monitors). If you're configuring a lappy get the high resolution, it's worth it. I also tried several other resolutions (1600X1200 - 1280X1024) and it looks just as good.

Wireless performance is excellent full signal strength at 50' in another room.

Opened up the bottom of the lappy to look at the internals - very well made, easy to access the Hard Drive(s), memory sticks, CPU and Vid card for upgrades if desired.

One Con I don't like - I can't turn off the glowing Alien Head and Alienware logo with out powering it down. When on batteries or transporting that should be an option.

Future Plans upgrade RAM to 2GB or 4GB, & maybe go to the X1900 MXM III Vid card

    Pros:
The Intel Core 2 Duo is very quick and the X1800 vid is no slouch either.
Keyboard is fine and I like having a full size Num Pad on the 17" model.
The fit and finish on the case is first rate and I love the Alienware Oddessey bag. Even the zipper pulls have Alien Heads on them - very nice.
I can know enjoy gaming on the road without my AW Tower - ha ha........

The x1800 is actually underclocked and if you need extra performance just overclock it back to it's original speeds.

I noticed in your sig that it said you have the M5550. Except that it has extreme next to it.

    What does M5550 Extreme mean?

Well its been almost a year (2 weeks) and my M5750 is still flawless. It's running XP SP3 now. Its totally replaced my desktop and I think its the best PC I've owned.
