So Got my shiny M17x. This thing looks HUGE and awesome but yeah I opened the screen started to boot it and right away bottom of the screen a huge dead pixel

So does that mean I have to send it back again and wait for weeks while they replace the screen now?

Call them. Tell them EVERYTHING you don't like about the screen and ask for a new one.

I would still tell them to send me a replacement.

Keep the one you have until the new one arrives lol

I got a $3000 17" uMacbook Pro yesterday and it had a dead pixel and i was gutted, it is being returned and i will new one, I told them the screen was flickering , because one dead pixel is most likely not a good enough reason for a return.

I hope you get a replacement sorted quickly.

That is a good idea, I would gladly replace the screen myself, it does not look complicated. I just hope they would allow me to do it in the first place.

Also do I call dell or alienware?

Well, I replaced the screen myself and it isnt hard but it is time consuming and it seemed more troublesome than it should have since I had to move all the items in the lid over from the original. Inverter, brackets, lighting effects for head and alienware logo, web cam, ect...

You will have to call tech support and tell them that you have the new M17x all powerful. Once you are talking to the right ppl, I would make it seem really bad with the screen so they dont fight you much, and yes ask for just the screen if you want to replace just that or if you want to go the easier route, make it appear that other things aren't right and demand a complete replacement or you will return the system for a refund... Your call...

Either way will get you a new screen. Just be prepared to do some surgery to do the screen only...

I called dell but was xfered to the right ppl

Well since the pixel is Blue it does not necessarily means its dead (unless its white or black) so I am going to try this screen burning software

    http://www.jscreenfix.com/

See if that helps if not gonna call dell and go from there.

Btw Moo did you disassemble the m17x yet? I am getting new CPU in cuz I only got P8600 (OCed @3.0 Right now) so I am trying to get to the socket P? From the looks of it I got to take out the keyboard since I see the bottom part of socket bracket when I took HDD1, and CPU fan out.

Any recommendation on how to take the keyboard out without scratching/dmging the plastic around the keyboard?

You know what don't worry about it, I would not be asking this question if I did not look around and didn't find anything on that but that's fine. Thanks for your time.

Well I would assume if you paid like $2500+ for a laptop you would want it to be perfect. Even one dead/stuck pixel would be unacceptable. And I just found one on my own M17x I got yesterday...and I paid like 4k for it. Should I just call Dell and ask for a replacement. I've tried all the programs/methods to fix it and nothings happened. Plus I've gotten random computer freezes and my AC adapter buzzes annoyingly....
