Refurbs....Good deal if not upgrading. Not a good deal if he/she plans to upgrade. The upgrade is gonna cost an arm and a leg which will be about the same cost if bought new.

Yeah..it's a good deal for the wife.

 

Even a new one i priced out earlier with Xfire 4870s and WUXGA rest stock was around $2400.00 on EPP which seemed pretty decent to me for all the extras you get ... But yeah witcher im sure that machine had a specific purpose in mind and was not going to be anything more then just what it is...

Yeah its coming close to that time man... Prices seem to be falling super fast...

Most of the Refurbs are like new and have a one year Warranty attached to them if i remember correctly ...

You still have a $4K system on your hands. You cannot even get all the options you have anymore.

 

A refresh is upon us probably sooner then we think and when i saw one in the Outlet for $1219.00 earlier it tells me they are clearing some serious stock ...

It's just bad timing with CES. THIS week is not the time to sell but buy. Great deals can be had.

 

it's different if you must have the latest and greatest but if you dump now you may be waiting months for something better.

Yeah thats why if Dell does not announce anything tomorrow about new cards atleast for the M15x or M17x ill be running down to microcenter to grab the M15x for something to tinker with... They have a 7 day price protection on laptops as well(might even be longer) so if the prices go down ill go get some money back... I dont have the patience at this point to order something and wait though... Bored to friggin tears over here and for some odd reason putting a card in my desktop didnt make me happy like i had hoped lol...

 

Talking about desktop, I left the desktop world back in 2007. I have not even looked at one since.

Side note: I still have my Desktop Nvidia CM Stacker 830 in the closet collecting dusk...... 3 years already

I need an i7 desktop to handle all the other stuff i do so its a must have but i just dont game on it much anymore .. I have owned so many gaming laptops over the years dating back to my first inspiron 8200 which had the first removable graphics card GeforceGO64 meg but i go back and forth between desktops and laptops probably to much..

 

every body has i7 but what about intel xeon quad core

 

The Xeon would serve little purpose for me but always dug the name...

LOL, thanks. And yes, it'll be plenty for the wife. I only hope the cards are more reliable than the 8800mgtx's that were in the M1730 she had. I had one too but mine was still underwarranty and on it's 3rd set of video cards when dell bought it back from me for what i originally paid for it.

I used that money to buy the M17x in my tag.
