update: ugh, wasnt home the first time they attempted to deliver. I am now very angry
I just ordered an m15x this afternoon and I was just wondering if there are any problems that I need to adddress before anything happens such as the chassis problem and etc. And I was also wondering if it will be able to run most games at high setting and what not with the specifications of parts that I got. Also if you have any tips and pointers I would greatly appreciate all of them.![]()

get the ram and hard drive from new egg you will save 300-400 dollars
other then that your good for gaming -
NapalmSilyPuddy Notebook Consultant
sweet, thank you very much. I also just reached phase 3
-
react to the phases at your own risk. they are a guide, but frequently are known to give false information....

ha so ive heard. im trying to be patient but its pretty hard when im so pumped about it
-
Did you order it with 4 gb ram? That makes it idiotically expensive. They have a support article detailing how to replace the RAM and the RAM is only 40 bucks on newegg!
-
-
what do you need an article for? AW charges like 350$ for 4GB RAM, on newegg, it costs about 40$, regardless of the manufacturer:

no article. it's too easy
1) remove service cover.
2) remove old RAM.
3) insert new RAM.
4) close service cover.
5) enjoy -

, too bad i didnt realize that before I ordered it. Oh well. Is it possible for me to upgrade to 8gb of ram? of course by buying from new egg
-
course it is. 530$ or 630$, take your pick:

But this is the beginning of the third day on phase 2, so I'm about to have an breakdown if this does not change by tomm afternoon -

thats definitely down the road, 4gig works for me right now

also, I've had some concerns about taking this with me to college because of theft and what not. Any suggestions on locks or whatever to reduce the chance of that? other than the obvious out of sight stuff and what not
-
well the m15x has a Kensington notebook lock. however, only a few locks will actually work - the Targus Defcon CL is one that is proven to work with the m15x. the lock that AW offers on their site does not work, apparently.

Congrats on the purchase though maybe you could have saved on the ram and gotten the WUXGA screen but the latter is down to personal preference of course.
Hope you enjoy your new alien and definitely post pics/a review of it when the beautiful beast arrives.

I think if you still want you can cancel any time before it ships and reorder and save 300 on ram and hard drive
unless you dun worry about money lol

ha well my grandpa ordered it for me and he is kind of losing it a bit so if i cancelled it he would be gravely confused. And Hak i researched about the WUXGA and what not, and since i didnt get blue ray I just went with the normal for better fps and reaction time. I also have an external monitor if i really want a better view
-
yeah I changed both of my machines during the build process I'd try to change and do the ram yourself (hell you might be able to get the 8gigs for what you paid for 4 at aw)
enjoy!

(does latency have any effect on a laptop?)

My grandpa ordered it, and he's kind of losing it a bit, so if i cancelled it and made him reorder it agian he would be extremely confused lol. And its my graduation present from him and he pretty much forced me to get the best of everything. I had to convnce him i didnt need 8gb or the 2.8ghz extreme processor lol

If you haven't yet, you can call the Roswell group and have one of them send you daily emails as to which phase it's in. When I first Spoke with Rebeca Rodriguez of Roswell, she looked up the original estimated ship date, seemingly forced an update of the Order Status just by inquiring about my notebook herself, and then determined when it would actually ship based on my notebook's status.
Oh, and they're only there weekdays during business hours. -

ugh, I wasnt home when they delivered the packages to my house =( Now i have to wait until tomorrow, since I will be home because of no school
-
well at least you'll have time to enjoy your new lappy then
-
yea i didnt get that i waited all day then it got the at 4 pm and i had to leave at 4:15 to go to work
just enough time to get unboxed and setup.
good luck with it im sure you will love it -
I actually travelled 2 hours to a DHL centre just coz I can't wait for the weekends, it was friday! ._.
( I don't have a car)
Its actually better for them to take longer in the production process...
mine was sent out in just 4 days incluing billing...
and guess what happens
I get the inferior screen lid with extremely thin uneven light pipe / _ \ so I don't switch it on.
and places where there suppose to have 4 screws theres only 3 lol My name plate and harddisk case...
This is the only physical problem though, otherthing else is perfect
I ordered from alienware UK
Looks like they can't afford enough screws
