I am so excited -- but my credit card is NOT! LOL

Hopefully I didn't miss out on any better deals. I was going to go with an HP HDX18t until I stumbled on that deal... I have wanted an Alienware computer for YEARS and my Toshiba X205-S9359 giving me nothing but problems finally prompted me to just do it.

Hopefully I can extend the warranty to cover CompleteCare though.

Now I just need to stumble on a cheap QX9300. :D

I wonder how much the Q9000 overclocks... There are a billion posts around here. Lots of reading. Hopefully I can get 2.4 out of it.

Sorry. I'm a little bit excited about getting it. :p

    My desktop is a C2Q6600 @ 2.8 with an 8800GTS 640 and my laptop is a C2D @ 2 with an 8700m GT... HUGE upgrade...

Welcome to NBR forums, make sure to read up on anything before posting.

    Grats on the M17x! :)

Also, the Q9000 goes to 2.44Ghz from what I've seen.

    I'm going from a 1.6Ghz, 256mb Nvidia, 1 gb ram, 75gb HD.

2.44 sounds perfect to me... though I'd still rather clock a QX9300 to 2.9 lol.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for making another Microcenter post. And yeah, you're upgrading a lot more than I am.

Hopefully the wifi doesn't drop out though. I was under the impression that it was a 5300... Apparently its Dell's crap. I'll be very unhappy if I can't use my 50/20 connection!

I read a couple posts with people claiming they're reaching 2.7 - 2.8 with the q9000. Personally, I am up to about 2.4. higher is unstable for me.

Congrats on the purchase - you won't be disappointed. In general I am very pleased with the M17x review unit. My full review should be up next week.

And yeah - the Q9000 is a good CPU but the QX9300 is really nice. Unlocked multiplier - I have mine at 11x/2.93GHz rock solid. ;) It's a beast.
