Hey guys,
It's the best quality one around. I hope you enjoy it!

Looks like a sweet product. I'll have more video soon.

heh even the fan underneath lights up.
puts my M17X to shame in that category I guess...... -
I gotta get me one of them......
-
Thanks! You answered the question re: alienfx
-
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
I believe it's the light from the keyboard
-
I think you're right because he said 5 AlienFX zones; so that will make it the alien head on the lid, alien head (power button), keyboard, speakers, and Alien name (at bottom of display). About the fan though, it looks large enough to kick the heat out.
-
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
Yeah! The fan is huge and in overall this baby beast looks pretty sick.
But I personally like lid and the bottom are made from matte plastic (something similar to the material of the bottom of its mother M17x). It catches fingerprint and dirt with that glossy finish. -
If only this thing was made in a 13" form factor and priced under a grand. I'd be all over it.
-
I'll still take one.
Anyone know any final specs and dimensions?
Any chance of i5 core cpu's in this badboy?
Every time i see this laptop just makes me want to get it.
Video is great just wish there was more. -
The CPU is a ULV 1.3Ghz C2D. No ULV i3/5/7's have been made yet, and they needed a low voltage solution I'm assuming.
-
you and me both, man!
-
release date?
-
You know, I really don't think they have said anything about that yet. I can ask to be certain, but I'm quite sure they didn't specify.
It's certainly a sexy device though. -
Oh man, too bad you didn't post this in the main thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=448975
It would at least move the conversation there to something more useful than "this is not a gaming laptop, beware" and other nonsense.
Thanks for the video bro. +Rep
Edit: The video says 5 zones for AlienFX. I am still wondering if the whole keyboard is one zone only.
1. Keyboard
2. Alienhead
3. Speakers
4. Touch bottons
5. Alienware Name (under screen)
Can you confirm or deny that the whole keyboard is 1 zone only? -
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
I think the whole keyboard is 1 zone only. I dont know but in that video they kinda trying to show off that baby as much as they can, see, with the keyboard LED morphing all the time in that video I believe they would have showed off all 4 zones lighting if there was any.
-
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling too. Maybe the glowing fan is a zone.
-
Wow, this notebooks is so sexy!
And for that price, it's just very interesting!
Sad it wont ship before spring, I want one nooow
-
A few places have reported that it'll be available early February, but I don't know whether to trust them or not.
Wish Dell would give out more official details than "11.6-in, Nvidia 335M". -
If it was a 13" with the capability of the 15 I'd pay over $1500 for it. Maybe we should contact Dell.
-
Lol, just wait and see, it's a big step for Alienware, they might be interrested in going further with that idea of mobile gaming notebook.
-

Ya that video just makes me want it even more lol
The fan looks like the same one used in the M17x, so that is great, it will have REAL airflow and cooling, cant wait to see some pics of one of these dissaembled -
I just hope they stick something better than a dual core in it.
-
Explosivpotato Notebook Consultant
Yeah that clock seems awfully low... I hope it can be overclocked to above 1.6 or 1.7.
-
From what I can tell, I think that the keyboard will be a single zone. It probably makes it all easier, both cheaper and a smaller connector possibly.
However, I can say that you've missed out a zone: The fan. Look closely in the video when you see the bottom of the laptop, the fan lights up
and it morphs colours like the rest of the system so I presume it's AlienFX.
-
That's because it's an ULV processor.
The Core i5 one is even lower. But seriously, come on. MHz/GHz myth much?
This processor can get more done per clock than some previous Core 2's, yet at a much lower clock speed than them. The Core i5 ULV can get even more done per clock at an even lower clock speed. Basically, this helps to save energy which means longer batteries for everyone
OK, sure, they're not necessarily as powerful as the non-ULV version, but the clock speed is a pretty much insignificant figure, unless comparing processors of the same family e.g. PXXXX Core 2 Duo's or TXXXX Core 2 Duo's. You couldn't say that a 2.53GHz P-series C2D is slower than a 2.66GHz T-series Core 2 Duo based on it's clock speed. They're from different series of processor, and can't be quite as easily compared. -
that lower panel looks like metal to me.
-
I believe it is.
-
Looks like a nice laptop to add on to your regular alienware rig I guess. Gaming on the go without needing a 6 pack.
-
I couldn't tell..................does it have a matte screen so you can use it in brightly lit places?
-
I wonder how will the M11x weight, it looks so thin :O
-
I've heard 5lbs
-
It looks so cool! The fact it can run MW2 and so many other games is great, but doesn't seem very practical to me. More than anything I see this laptop as an advance in changing the size and weight or components required for quality gaming. Some day maybe our 15" and 17" lappys will only be an inch thick and weigh half as much as they do now
-
SillyHoney Headphone Enthusiast
Well if Alienware ever makes, let's say, a M3.5x I will immediately sell my iPhone 3GS and grab it at once
-
For me its down to the waiting game of XPS-13 getting a refresh with i5 chips, the m11x, or some other company coming out with a ~13" gamer-friendly notebook.
-
thanks will watch soon after the Simpsons documentary hahah
-
I'll wait for the full reviews of the M11X later in the spring when it comes out...
BTW: I hear it's going to be out in the US in February [unclarified]
If Dell says Crysis can run in that pocket-bomb Armageddon at 50 fps @ high settings and reveiws prove it with benchmarks... sure, I'll go for it...
If the screen is too small for my liking or stated otherwise, it's the M15X instead for me...
BTW: Video has some lags but in high definition...
I don't mean my internet, I am using a business internet at 2mbps download speed.
Is there going to be an selectable option for a internal optical drive on the M11X? Or does that idea seem so far-fetched? -
Hey there vzegm,
You may simply need to update your Flash player. It's H.264 codec integrated with FLV. Trust me, it works smoothly; it's just really processor and codec-intensive.
We tested it endlessly before deploying our video format and it works on most modern machines without extra setup, but some require updates or simply cannot handle it.
As for whoever it was who asked about the glossy vs. matte screen, the only two M11x models I saw had glossy screens. I actually have another short video of it that I may post soon if anyone is still interested. It's mostly just the same thing with more light, however.
I think the WEI was 4.6 if anyone is interested! -
wow thanks for all the info. what was the limiting WEI? The CPU? What did the graphics score? Also more video is always good. Oh and what was to the right o the M11x just for size comparison..did it really feel like an 11"-12" notebook or was the footprint more like a 13" Macbook or something. Thanks othersteve!
-
I can just dream of a alienware device with the tegra 2 rulling the market..
-
>.> if they can get it to run at decent temps in that small of a form factor, then they've really lost any excuse to put out larger laptops that have heat issues. Is it just me or does it look like there should be some kind of mesh or grated cover above the fan? It looks like someone could easily pick it up and stick their finger in it by accident.
-
I think the CPU was limiting the WEI if you're curious. Don't hold me to that, though!
As for the footprint, it's of course a bit thicker than your average fanless netbook, but it still feels positively tiny compared to most other standard notebooks... especially those of its processing power. I think Dell has decided with this model and perhaps other Alienware products to focus more on GPU than CPU now that CPUs are so commonly overpowered. Focusing on the GPU allows them to subvert that common bottleneck for gaming applications while leveraging the power and cost savings inherent in a less powerful processor.
This is all just my take on the matter, however. I hope you guys like the videos! I certainly came away impressed. I like the feel of the touchpad, too, which reminds me of the M15/17x. The pointer moves smoothly with a good refresh rate, unlike that of the M15x I'm currently in possession of. Wonder why that is...

WEI of 4.6 is pretty good for that form factor no matter what the limiting factor is. That has me happy so far
-
Sure hope I'm right about the 4.6... I'm truly going entirely by memory on that.
-
Still no official date? I've heard february, then spring..?
-
Lol, "720p HD gaming experience"
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I can say that blu Ray and games look awesome in 720p on my 52" tv..... So that is not worth scoffing at
on a screen that small the dpi will be awesome and appear far better than is needed for an HD experience -
No release dates have been officially announced yet. And yes, the screen is beautiful.
-
I hope it is Feb. I also hope they don't sell out before I can order one. (sometime near launch)
-
All I know is that I'm pretty sure I want one.
-
Great vid. I sooo want to get one of these! By the way, hows the speakers on these guys?
Just posted my M11x video (in HD!)
