It's very true.
Of course 1080p looks better than 720p but come on, it's supposed to be a netbook in the first place so don't blame it on that.

Why 11"?! As frigging cool as it is, why couldn't they make a 13"? When I heard end of last year that alienware were bringing something new out in the portability department, I was sure it would be around the 13" size, maybe a bit bigger.
Looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on the HP Envy 15. i7, 6 gig RAM, SSD HDD and ATI 5830 in something weighing 5 pounds and 1 inch thick. Nice.
The M11x is a cool look system though, decent performance in such a small chassis. I wonder what they could do with a 13" chassis? Maybe we'll see some more models coming out later in the year. -

That Envy is not even in the same class with M11x price tag wise. AIK this Envy costs more than 2 grands right?

Good point, apologises, I wasn't trying to compare the two. I should have given a little more info. I need a powerful laptop that is still relatively portable for my frequent travel around the country. My Dell XPS M1730 has been an awesome laptop, but is killing me now with the amount of travel I do.
So I begun my search last year. M15x was way too big and heavy for travel, nothing else really gave the performance/portability ratio I was looking for until I saw the Envy 15. I decided to wait for a possible refresh (which has happened), and then read a Dell blog late last year hinting at a new portable machine from Alienware coming.
I was convinced it would be a 13" - 15" laptop, with decent spec's that was still portable, unlike the M15x. I was a little shocked when I found out it was a tiny little 11" laptop. Frigging cool, but not what I was after. Screen is way too small, would be painful to use. Hence why I am headed the way of the Envy 15.
Btw, the refreshed HP Envy 15 with i5 processor, 4 gig RAM and refreshed ATI 5830 GPU costs $1299US. There was a coupon flying around for a couple of weeks which knocked off $300US. $1000US ($1300 without coupon) for a 1 inch thick, slick designed powerhouse weighing 5lbs is pretty damn good IMO. Very powerful machine.
Not bashing the M11x here, kudos to Alienware for pushing the envelope here size/performance wise. Will be interesting to see what the other makers do. -

Wow so the Envy is not that expensive. It seems to be an awesome laptop based on user reviews. People like it.

Actually, there have been a few problems reported, seems to be the norm when new models are released. Here's to hoping the M11x doesn't have any!
Out of interest, to the people planning on picking up the M11x, what will you be using it for? Portable gaming whilst away? Supplement the desktop at home? -
-
As for M11x, I'm looking at it to be possibly gaming solution and be able to hook it up to a larger screen when I want to at home..that is until I get a desktop. I currently have the Sager in my sig but I would love a smaller form factor. -

were there any touch sensitive volume keys etc or are those accessed by the FN + keys?
*edit* nm after reviewing your video I can see the Fn + F keys for media controls and volume etc.. -

If the inspiron Mini 11z is any indicator, the function keys can be set via bios to be the function by default and you need to hit fn to get the f keys functionality, which would be the same as the touchstrip but actually more reliable

I'm just a little affraid about how the keyboard will feel, on such a small computer, it could be awfully shrinked..
What d'ya think? -
Almost certain it's a full-sized keyboard. Look at how the keys go all the way to the edge, plus it's a 11.6" screen but there's plenty of room on the sides of the screen bezel to give more room on the chassis. 12.1" netbooks can feature full-sized keyboards and this should be no different.
-
Personally I thought the keyboard felt quite nice. As far as I could tell, there was very little or no flex to it on the model they had present at the meeting with us.
The whole thing just has the Alienware feel to it. It's quality stuff. Sure, it's a bit bigger than your average netbook, but then again, you get 6 hours of standard battery and 3.5 hours of gaming with this sucker on a standard-sized battery!
By the way, thanks for the reps fellas!
Just posted my M11x video (in HD!)
