The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. Finally pulled the trigger last night. Went with the 1900 resolution and 8800 GTX. :D

I just wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of you on this forum. This is my first post, but I've been reading the threads on this forum board for weeks now. Without all of your considerate and objective advice, I never would have been as well-informed or as confident in my purchase decision. This forum is a fantastic resource and you all do a wonderful job.

    Again, thank you all.

I can't wait for it to arrive!

Hang on a second, this looks suspicious.

How would Alienware know this customer made a post on NBR after 18 minutes?

It looks like Alienware made a new account on NBR, posted about a purchase and used their retailer account to reply soon afterwards, making Alienware seem like they care more about the customers.

Can the admin check if both accounts use the same IP (Saying that, they probably used different IP's via proxy, to be safe)

Darbyjack I thought of the same exact thing even before your post... This would def help Alienware get some sales... Even though I am a fan of Alienware and I do recommend there M15x because of its power and design this topic def seems like it was made by Alienware

Hey, if Alienware wants to send some money my way, that's fine...

But as much fun as conspiracy theories are, I gotta be honest that this isn't one. If my thank-you sounded like branded corporate speak, it's probably because I work in advertising. It's sometimes hard to turn off the filter. Besides, the thank you was geared towards you guys, who discuss what I need to hear, not what I want to hear (i.e.: that wicked Why NOT to buy an m15x thread.. that thing is in intimidating!) - I'm not about to thank Alienware. They just took a wad of my hard-earned money, after all!

@ Darbyjack: Yeah, I was (and still am) concerned about the hinges. This laptop is actually for my fiance (lucky me, right?) and I know she'll baby it. Still, I'm going to keep a stern eye turned towards those hinges. First sign of trouble, it's getting shipped back to Alienware with a sternly-penned letter.

    That'll show 'em.
