For 4.5k, id like my machine to you know... work... like good and stuff.

From opening it, to installing TF2, my old semi broken agp8x computer runs tf2 better... thats when TF2 doesnt quit out.

Its just been a terrible experience since i ordered the damn machine.

Looks pretty though.. thats all that matters right?

return it for full refund or ask them to fix it. 4.5k for looks ? 4.5k can do a lot of things. you can get a more powerful desktop with that.

You sound like someone who needs to go to a mac. ;)

Post some shots of cpu-z and gpu-z when under load and some people here may be able to help.

BTW, when flashing a BIOS on any system it restores back to factory settings and RAID has never been a factory default.

Yah ruiner, you aren't the first to come into the forums woe is me'ing about how crappy these new machines are... and best part is, 90% of the time it is user error, settings and minor issues causing all the problems. Read through the forum topics, list your problems and people can walk you through them, or as Drake pointed out, send it back and Mac it up if you are unwilling to work through them logically, but you'll be missing out I guarantee.

Team Fortris may have an issue, especially if the system is configured for SLI. You may want to try installing the latest patch for the game, or possibly disabling SLI when you play. SLI is a great technology when it's utilized. Unfortunately, 90% of the games on the market don't (and this is where the problem begins).

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Nah GabeZ, I play TF2 every night on mine in SLI at 85-100+ fps easy. Must be something else going on. Even if he was playing with just the 9400, he should still get good playable framerates, I have tried it out to see.

@ Ruineer: I would say do a respawn and start fresh, then post what isn't working and solve the problems one at a time to narrow it down. It may be that you have a bad unit, but there are tonnes of things to try first and post your specs as well please so we know what you are running.

That may be true out of the box, with outdated drivers and if you don't play around with settings. You can probably make those 90% work fine with SLI enabled using the latest drivers, SLI Updates and/or nHancer, too. ;)
Really, SLI works fine with almost every game, as long as SLI is enabled and the proper compatibility flags are set for it in the driver profile.

Yup! SLI works fine with every game I tried so far: FEAR 2, Crysis, MW 1 and 2, Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, GTA IV, Burnout Paradise, COD World at War...

Yup, the M17x loves Valve's games. TF2, L4D, CS:S and now L4D2 run in SLi so silky smooth with max settings it's awesome.

You've either got a lemon, it's not configured well or theres driver issues.

Go and read Batboy's blog linked in his sig, should help you immensely.

Hi, thanks for confirming that it works BatBoy and ZackB. I was going to install it this afternoon to verify.

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Sorry for the somewhat misleading rant, was tired and alcohol was involved :)

I fixed all the issues and its now running beautifully, except wireless seems to have stopped working, though i remember seeing something about that.

I was just slightly annoyed that forking out that much money that it gets shipped in a non optimal state, nothing more, nothing less.

Id never touch mac, even though my ranting may have made me appear to be someone that has no idea about computers i am a sys admin and 99% of the calls i get about fixing peoples computers in the office are mac users.

Soon i shall hopefully be able to phase them out of the workplace, and i will be happy.

Yet again, sorry for the rant :)

It happens ruinerr...and for the record, I agree with you.

No computer at any price should ship in a state that does not function out of the box. It is irrelevant whether or not you can download drivers and whatnot to fix it...it should not be shipped non-functional at all. I don't know that the m17x falls into this category...it sort of functions, though it needs some updates, but doing IT at work I see products that need upgrades immediately to function - the razer mamba mouse needs an immediate bios flash to work for example.
