I have updated drivers etc to the ones that are mostly recommended here. I have SLI 280M's running 186.82 drivers - are these considered the best for gaming / general use?

    also...

Should i do a full format of my system and get rid of all the alienware/dell bloatware or is it unnecessary to do so?

    Great machine also! Really quick!

    Specs:
    Q9000 @ 2350
    280M *2 (SLI)
    500GB RAID 0 (2 * 250GB)
    4GB Ram
    BLU-RAY
    Windows 7 Professional x64

I have never formatted a RAID drive before. Is it very similar to formatting a normal HDD and then partitioning to what you want?

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe i should ask one more question:

If you just received your m17x fresh out of the box, what would be the first things you would do to it?

    ^^ Yeah! Obviously :D
A more seriously answer would be checking all over for weird sound from the inside. Also check for dead pixel, heat and build quality.
And doing all those stuff while waiting for the battery to be depleted.

Update all your drivers and flash to the most current BIOS if it is not currently updated
