I'm buying an M17X in the future.

Will I need two graphic cards for Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 to run smoothly? I don't need the graphics to be amazing. Just wondering will it run fine with only 1?

Why would I need two, if so?

Can I just buy the $1,799 version and run those games fine?

What should I worry about upgrading? Looking to spend under $2,500-$2,700

i would dare say that one should be sufficient for the likes of the games your asking about.

So that's a no? Is the $1,799 laptop not good enough?

Then you may not need someting as hefty as the m17x (it's 12 pounds and won't fit in most laptop bags). Still, if you're determined to get the m17x and you've got a budget that high, I'd say go for the 260's in SLI. You won't be disappointed

no - you dont need two gpu's for the games you mention...

he has a good point here...and allows for future games you may desire to try that would be more graphic heavy.

Thanks guys. I just want it to be able to run my game and not lag. Graphics aren't very important.

I mostly play Runescape currently. That will be easy to run I'm guessing.

Thanks for the huge help guys. Came back to rep ya. I'm only getting the Alienware laptop because I travel a bit and always need my computer and it's just something different. I want to try a cool looking computer.

Anyone know what I should upgrade on the laptop to create a faster speed gaming and multi-tasking?

DDR3 is the only thing I don't want to upgrade due to it being so new and expensive?

or is the computer already pretty well set for that?

Most would say get 260's in SLI, the laptop already comes with DDR3, but greater than 4GB is overkill and 1333Mhz ram is also useless get 1066Mhz.
And TBH, noone really knows what the requirements for Diablo III will be yet. Dual video cards might come in handy when all is said and done.

So, upgrade the vid cards, if you want to watch blu-ray's get the blu-ray drive, then lastly take a hard look at the processor. For those games a dual-core is more then adequate, but maybe bump it up a notch or two in the dual-core procs. Thats about it.

Thanks, so for speed I go for dual core processors? I might just upgrade it to quad then and call it done.

I don't want to overpay for the ddr3.

If I'm wrong on this. What speeds up a computer?
