Is anyone's backlighting not quite uniform? It seems like my central zone keys and space bar aren't as bright as some of the other keys. Is this by design?

The space bar on all the M17x including the one i had all had a very uneven/dim space bar.. So what your seeing is nothing unusual... I think the light has a hard time filling up all that space ..

These fans are killing me though, does anyone's fan make noise when they type?

Mine is damn quite and cold like ice when I do the typing or surfing on Power Saver mode in Hybrid SLI. The fans will start to make noise (noise of wind so it's no big deal) when I chage to Performance mode and start gaming.
M17x cooler is amazing! When it's idle t's just a little louder but a lot cooler than my MBP (which I believe is one of the best lappy out there at least in term of quite and cool)
