Ah well, I have the Targus one from the shop, but it is off course just a standard kensington lock. If I look at the rest of this topic it seems AW has done something really strange with this lockhole :p

So, you also have some problems with the Targus???
For what I understood, locks that require you to turn the locking "teeth" of the thing, wouldn't work. THis is not the case of the Targus, as the Targus "teeth" expand sideways to lock into the security lock of the laptop.
    Am I right?

I ordered the targus defcon cl with the m15x from AW and it does not work. I turned it 180°, tried nearly everything... there is now way to get it working... its useless... had no time to call AW for this issue yet... but I will do so...

you can put the defcon cl into the lock, however it doesn't fully expand... hence you can't change the numbers and there is no security... useless as mentioned before...

although I read the thread I'm still confused, so just to clear stuff out: does anyones' defcon cl from AW work with its m15x?

So hang on a sec; the lock they sell on their website works? I thought I read somewhere in here that they're selling something that does not work.

    @Milio and Vertex
Would you guys be kind enough to take pictures of your locks (specially the part that goes into the laptop)? And Milio, could you take some pics explaining how you got it to work?
    That would be really helpful...

I wrote that after I misunderstood a posting. It looks like the Targus they offer for the m15x works with it while they offer an additional Targus for the m17x which won't work with the m15x.

    Hello all,

We would like to look into this. Please let me know which locks are being used that are not working.

    Thank you.

    Dear Armando
Most of the conventional Kensington locks DO NOT work with the M15x.

Here's an example of the type of locks that won't work:

Pretty much, all the locks whose teeth turn 90º once inside the lock (that you do by turning the key) will not work on the M15x.

Some people say that teeth that will expand sideways will work, but it's not confirmed. Targus Defcon is one example. These locks have combinations of numbers (instead of keys) and have been reported to be incredibly bad and unsafe. Once inside the security lock, the teeth will expand laterally to fix the chain to the laptop.

i brought this up with tech support 2 weeks ago. he said they would look for a lock in the office to try it and get back to me but he didnt.
i said could it be that too much paint or laquer had been put on the chassis and he said it could be.
now Armando as taken up the task of checking we might finally get some answers.
    thanks Armando.

Ok, it works... So what was all the story with twisting and all that?

There are locks that require twisting 180 degrees to actually lock inside that slot. They do not work in the m15x. The one pictured above has an expanding "key" that compresses to go into the slot and expands inside the slot to lock - no twisting required.
