    Maybe, maybe not Halo,

Look at what they offered in the M9750. Compared to the gen 1 M17X and the M17.

And there were three competing models then.

    all were exclusives

AW wont make as much money if there number 1 seller is a rebrand

they could go either way ... i know they are not stupid so its a hard call wether they will make 4870s for it.... what could be smart is to make 4870's for both so that you could choose between styles

they already said several times that it the 4870 will b available, they just don't say when. I asked them about it before I bought the M17 just to be sure. If they don't offer me the option to upgrade I'll ask for a full refund and if they refuse... law suit ftw. glad I've lawyers in the family.

So are there 4870's that will physically fit, and work in, an M17 that can be purchased somewhere?

All that matters is the MXM slot, or what have you, right?

    I'll fabricate better cooling myself.

mark at killer notebooks said that with his custom copper heatsinks which add like 10 square inches of surface area and additional holes punched into the case for more aireflow the 4870's were functional in his notebook and was willing to make it custom for me but said ti would be expensive. Email mark at killer notebooks if your heart is set this way. I went with an m17x and am so happy I did. It's the best notebook I ever owned in my life.

All I want are the 4870s. I've got a bit of an engineering background, and will handle the rest myself.

Now, does he have 2 4870s in CrossFire, or just a single card? I thought I saw something about it being just one. In that case, is a single 4870 better than two 3870s?

Did he ever quote you a price? I wonder where he's getting the cards.

    A single 4870 is twice as fast(or close to it) than a 3870.I would take a single GDDR5/3 mobility 4870 over 2 3870s anyday.

I just wish AW would just go ahead and release the damn 4870s.With the W90 being discontinued, there is no company I can go to to get ATI cards. And I dont want sucky 3870s either....

So the 4870(s) that I'm looking for are the same ones that are in the W90? I believe they are GDDR 3.

Why is the W90 already being discontinued?

I don't know if one 4870 is faster then the xfired 3870's

The problem is mark used the ddr3 version of the cards for his mod bit as he said it is expensive.

I have been looking for the ati cards for a while and not managed to find a supplier. Just waiting for either aw to release them or jump to clevo in the future.

No one has tested the DDR 5 version of the ati card as far as we know it is still in prototype and no retail cards been made.

I do know aw took delievery of the ddr3 version they called the 4850 but they have pulled it from sale for the m17
