Here are some pics of the unboxing. I repacked it and took pictures for y'all. My wife thinks I'm nuts. ;)

If you get one thing out of this post - this laptop is SLIPPERY. If you're not careful, it can slip right out of your hands. And that would be a bummer....

Still haven't turned it on. Probably wont' for a couple days...

Here is the shipping box. (click for larger)

Pull out the alienware box from the shipping box.

Pop the top half off and open the accessory box. Hat, sticker, mousepad, power brick, Win7 DVD, M17x Resource DVD, leather-bound mobile manual.

Remove the assy. box and look what we have. A laptop in its own little pillowcase.

The box is a nifty 3 piece design. Top and bottom are the same and the center piece is removable. There were plastic clips that hold the box together - they go through the side holes and expand with a snap. I've seen these before but can't remember what they're called. This is the center section being removed to show how...

A close-up of the alienhead on the mobile manual front cover...

And here we have the laptop.

Comes shipped with a screen protector and a baggie.

Baggie removed, screen protector plastic sheet peeled back. The RGBLED screen is glossy/shiny and I can only imagine howmany thousand fingerprints I'll be wiping off in the coming days....

    Non-custom engraved nameplate...

Another nameplate with alien language on laptop bottom.

GPU fan - one on each rear corner
    [IMG]

    Main fan
    [IMG]

The touchpad people seem to have so much trouble with - note the texturing.

Webcam and 2 holes for mics (orange dot is lens ghosting, ignore it)

Right-side LED panel bumper to keep it off the keyboard. Yeah, don't think I'm gogin to trust that. Off to shaggmac next for a new pad. The slipcover I had for my Inspiron doesn't fit anymore.

Left-side. The "scratches" aren't really scratches. Yet. I just scratched the palmrest a little and it looks like fingernail 'dust" like you'd get if you did the same thing to sandpaper. It wiped right off. I think the texturing makes it look worse than it is. CompeteCare will take care of anything anyways...

    Great job, beelsr.

What? WHAT? Plug that fire-breather in and crank it up.

Life.... I have 2 reports and a proposal to write. And I want to redo my bookshelf and change my office desk. So, the wife wants to repaint the room and what she wants, she gets... :p

Then, once it gets fired up, there's a few days of installing software and fiddling to get it all setup how I want it. Not looking forward to doing that part (again) at all....

I wanted to get this started when it hit the boxing stage but had other stuff to do. Had some trees come down over the driveway (1/2 mile through the woods) so I had to clear them and today I broke out in a poison ivy rash. Lovely....

The orange dot on one of the pics, is not lens ghosting, is actually part of the laptop :)
There's a tiny led in there that turns on when using the webcam.

Bleh unboxing is overrated. Major disappointment sets in afterward for many people if they have a dead pixel, failing crossfire cable and/or video card (seems to be common these days) etc. You're getting a perfectly working system with zero defects :)

You're a good man. Looks like a helluva nice system that will be waiting for you when the time is right. Congratulations.

that's not lame, if anything, my unboxing experience was lamer

as the Local Dell store have opened the seal 1st to check if everything is complete and check on the body to make sure there is no dent, therefore, i wasn't the 1st to open the goddamn box and not the 1st person to even touch my own M11X

    nice pic though!
