Well i got word from a friend whos a friend mail carrier that the facility where they store packages overnight got hit and over 1 million dollars worth of packages were stolen. the same friend who ordered the laptop for me while i was away. Hes going to write a report or something and send it to the postal investigators who then will send it to alienware. Should i be contacting alienware directly? Ive waited over a month, it seems like if its not delays, someone steals it  I dont even know the tracking number or order number or anything, neither does my friend who ordered it. Whenever i contact customer support via email or chat and ask for its status they always say they cant find my order... ive given them all info i can but the credit card #.

there isn't much you can do about a package (you haven't received yet) stolen from a postal depot. you'll just have to wait for the shipping company and AW to work things out.

Just phone alienware and threaten to cancel your purchase if you don't get your laptop soon. I wouldn't be able to wait for one whole month for a laptop to come. I would die of over excitement :D

Hi DrBackJack-if you have access to the email and/or name used to place the order, PM them them to me and I will be happy to locate a tracking number for your order and will look into the news you received about the break in to verify if any AW systems were stolen.

hmmm are you sure this friend isnt rippin you off? I probably dont have the whole story but this sounds kind of fishy. First what was the point of someone else placing an order for you? Secondly why would that person not have the tracking information. A tracking number is created the instant the package is scanned being picked up from the merchant. If a valid email address was given when the order was placed, what happened to the shipping email? Thirdly i think the whole "shipping center getting robbed" is a load of crap. This would be a somewhat large news story. Google it you wont find anything. Also you live in Florida, im fairly certain AW is located there. I doubt your package would even sit in an overnight facility. But the biggest issue is, why would someone handle the order for you? What did you use to pay for the system. AW would have already charged you so you should be able to use that information to at least prove AW charged you for something. Hope your friend didnt rip you off for 3 grand

If he is messing with us, it is his problem, and AW has checks against it. Anyway, the only thing we can do is give him the benefit of the doubt.

He ordered it because I dont have a credit card yet(just turned 18, was 17 when it was ordered. Im pretty sure he cant be ripping me off because 1. I live with him 1/2 the day and 2. He informed me when they were out of stock of video cards and hard drives, about the same time people started talking on the forums about vid cards not being in stock.

Oh and btw all packages going to central florida have to go through the distribution center first. The one in tampa was hit.

i still dont believe this....if he is a mail carrier, that leads me to believe he works for the us post office. So your saying a goverment facility was broken into and robbed of over a million dollars of packages and there is no news of this? First of all this WOULD BE in the news, and it isnt. Secondly federal mail facilitys are open 24/7 be it shipping or receiving so robbing a warehouse full of people sounds a little difficult. Thirdly (lol) alienware does not send its packages through the united states post office. Fourthly (not a word ftw) if you live with this person why are you not privy to the shipping and tracking information? Lol i dont mean to grill you, but the story is full o holes.

Every time I ordered an A.W. it was shipped through Fed Ex.

They do have theft occur. The company I work for recently sent a mainframe server accross country to their newest location. While at a depot in Texas it went missing.

This server contained every bit of all the employee's personal data and to this day it still hasn't been recovered.

Based on my experiences, I will not use Fed Ex by choice. In my case, who cares if the server was insured. The thing should have been sent by armored car!

listen unless you happen to live in central florida dont come in here bashing me. I made this thread for help and tips not to listen to people calling me a lier. When they closed the distribution center in lakeland ALL packages into suncoast florida have to go through tampa from what ive heared, be it fedex or ups or w/e. It is not a mail facility, its a parcel distribution center. I see theres a fedex distribution center in orlando, I hope that somehow I might be wrong about the laptop being stolen, but the postal inspectors are saying otherwise. Considering it was shipped on friday (supposedly over night shipping) and it hasn't arrived yet, Im beginning to think the inspectors might be right unfortunately. I might have to buy something cheap from newegg and use fedex shipping to make sure.

Alienware is already aware of the theft. Apparently quite a few systems were stolen. Just got off the phone with them directly. Theyre rebuilding the system earthier today or tomorrow and are just waiting for the manifest from the distribution center before they ship

LOL i wasnt "bashing" you i was simply asking questions because the original post had lots of holes in the story. Also i never called you a liar. I wasnt saying i didnt believe you, quite honestly i couldnt care less if your telling the truth. Assuming the package was stolen, that sucks and im glad to hear its being worked out for you, lol i should probably drop this but..... Fedex, UPS and USPS sharing a distribution center is crazy. They are all completely seperate (competing for that matter) companies and all of them sharing a distribution center would be crazy. The whole point of my posts is only to get the whole picture, sorry for being curious. Not trying to be a at all. Just using what i know about the topics to possibly help the situation. To be technical i was the only one helping as everyone else just said essentialy "that sucks sorry".
not trying to be a know it all either, these are all pretty common sense topics.
Addition, a case like an entire shipping facility being robbed wouldnt go to postal inspectors but the FBI. Also if it is through fedex they dont have postal inspectors because they dont deal with postage or mail. Only pointing out truthes not calling anyone a liar.

I thought AW shipped Fed Ex? Postal is for APO shipping. Mail carrier doing Fed Ex job?

Whatever as long as AW is on top of things just hang in there.

Well I'm guessing the reason they have the postal inspectors on the job because postal workers parcels were stolen. The boss here in winter haven had his dell stolen too so he's mad. :p
