The new M15x battery life is great for that power in a system lacking an integrated gpu. The M17x is only more due to the 9400m

Well I have used my M17x on battery for a full charge more than once. That is 3.5 hours I will add. Was long enough for a full blu Ray movie and then an hour of solitaire when flying. It is a gaming laptop, but still a laptop that can and should be able to be used for other things besides gaming

I guess so Pommie. Thanks ;)

I have nothing against the battery life of most gaming notebooks. All I'm saying is that having good battery life via interchangable graphics cards, makes the notebook more flexible.

I agree, sadly Intel has not (and most likely will not) made a chipset with an IGP for the mobile i7 (or desktop for that matter) yet. And since Nvidia has no license to make a chipset for these cpu's, battery life may not appear for a while :(

mines doing great too... received it with problems at first, sent it back for repairs, AW upgraded the OS and processor for free from T9300 to T9500, had the hinge fabricated when it arrived on the same shop as cha had suggested, and so far, its working awesome...

That's awesome for such a brute laptop! I'm happy if I can get 90 minutes from the various laptops I use. 75 min is more typical of my experiences with most gaming notebooks.

    Thanks for the replies.

Even though the latop operating system has had no problems, my problems, like stated, were the physical attributes of it.

Sure Alienware fixed it, that still does not make me happy, TWICE!

I am not saying I abuse the M15X, I just shouldn't have to baby it either.

Look at the replies of the ones who say they are happy with the M15X, but for the fact that it had to be repaired!!

I seen my friend drop his Toughbook on concrete, he's a cop, and just pick it up, dust it off and continue doing a report! No Damage!!!!!

Again not that I plan on dropping it, I want quality. The operating system I can deal with, that's not alienwares fault LOL

it's hard to say you dislike your laptop after plinking down $3000.00 like i did, but don't let alienware get a great review from you if it's been back for repair more often then China puts lead in the paint of their toys!

My wife is happy with her m15x, and we have had zero issues. No repairs, no hinge issue. It just works.

Sounds like a relatively cheap netbook with long battery life would be suffice for you. But it also depends on what your work entails. If it's just using Office software and e-mailing, it'll be good for you.
