those are baby spikes, you need 40,000 to cause stuttering in my experience
-
quit stareing at the screen
Those are normal for ANY laptop please do some research -
even if it does take 40 000 to get stuttering shouldnt a system with such hardware not have such spikes at idle?
-
NO, like i said before MOST laptop has some DPC latency to a degree...
-
just buy the way when u unplug my laptop it just TOTALLY FREEZES
-
I have noticed that. It could be just the 9.12 drivers though.
-
well at this point im not even going to bother to call aw sine they are going to replace my m17x for an m17x r2 But it will take 15 days
, and i dont have other computer at home for my college and this dam thing keeps freezing when i unplug the ac
-
is any one expecting the freezing when unplugging the laptop with the 9.12 drivers?
-
Yes I am, just tested it a second ago.
-
Lol I had the same issue with 280s under Linux, and now it's fine there with ATIs but in W7 it freezes, ROFL!
-
install the 9.12 hotfix
-
Very strange. Anyone with the default dell drivers that can test this out?
-
mine froze when i pulled the ac adapter out. mine did boot without the ac adapter in. i do have the modded 9.12s i guess if you had to pull the adapter you could try to put it into sleep mode or somthing and unplug it and then just log back on. your not going to be doing too much work on one of these things away from a ac adapter though. mine says 1.5 hours @100% charge
-
downloading 9.12 hot fix now.
-
^^
let me know if that works. can you install the hotfix right on top of the modded cat 9.12s? -
-
haha had the same question.
-
Well I want to stay with my R1. I feel like one of those people that are in an abusive relationship yet still stay with the person who is abusing them. Maybe I need counseling to help me separate from lappy.

they send 2 techs to replace the mobo and the NOOBS bricked it twice, on the first one the laptop keept restarting on the bios and the second one he did not apply thermal pads on the north bridge chipset (common sense), so had to do it myself since i will receive the r2 in 15 days and no way im going to be alone for 15 days
-
or some distant relative at least
i thought if the tech breaks ur system they'll replace it with the same model? thats what i was told. tech told me even if i asked for a replacement they would replace the r1 since the r2 is WORLDS apart. and even if it doesnt solve the problem, they would give me r1s.. -
Just installed the hot fix the system is still locking up when I unplug it. I really dont use this thing with out being plugged in anyway so its really not that big of a deal.
-
They came to replace my MOBO this week also after being upgraded to the ATI and the laptop has worst issues then before.
To make a long story short, they are coming to replace the MOBO again this week and they told me that if the problem was not fixed then they would send and R2. -
i think it just has to do with modded drivers, i mean they are desktop drivers so a change in power sources could confuse the driver or something...o well i plan on my laptop to be plugged in most of the time. if i have to unplug it i will just remember what i have to do
-
does the lockups happen on dell's ati drivers as well?
-
DPC Latency posts can go in the DPC Latency thread. You are going to see some spikes - its not going to go away just because you have ATI cards.
The lockups you are seeing might be related to the ATI driver install you used. I opened a thread specifically for the folks who were moving from NVIDIA GPUs to ATI in the M17x R1. I just now located the link. Going to close this thread as lockups and driver install issues can be discussed there.
