Ok, since it is taking longer then my CC company thought to get it repaired, (hinge) they are deciding on letting me get a new computer from dell that is comparable to my old m15x.

My specs for my m15x are:

Design & Display: Silver Ripley Design
    Display: 15.4" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p) with Clearview Technology
    Video/Graphics Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® Series - 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 9800M GT
    Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9500 2.6GHz (6MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 2048MB
Turbo Cache Memory: Intel® Turbo Memory (1GB) – Accelerate Data Transfer Speed
System Drive: 320GB 7,200RPM (8MB Cache) w/ Free Fall Protection
    Optical Drives : 8x Dual Layer Burner (DVD±RW, CD-RW) w/ LightScribe Technology
    Wireless: Internal Intel® Wireless 4965 a/b/g/Draft-N Mini-Card
Keyboard Options: AlienFX® Illuminated Keyboard – Exclusive Design
Mobile Essentials: Additional Battery – 6-cell Smart Bay Battery

Total amount I paid for it: $2,874.00

And my question is, what would be a comparable build for me if I went with the new M15x? I don't really know much difference between the processors and GPU's, I guess I have been out of the loop for awhile.

But if anyone can offer some thoughts, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks. :)

Does the 9 cell stick out of the back of the M15x? And how much heavier is it?

the 9 cell battery gd for your laptop, it will last longer and it sticks out underneath and causes you to type at a slope which is more economical =)

M11x is just for gaming on the go, not really a desktop replacement.

You're pretty lucky if your cc company would grant you that refund man.

Even if they would be exchanging your area 51 m15x with a new M15x, it would still be a good deal. Hope everything turns out well for you.

Yeah, but I am not crossing my fingers for a refund, but at least I won't be stuck with a computer that breaks down all the time. It is too bad too, because I like so many more things about the old m then the new M.

I will keep you guys updated, so far this entire process has taken almost 4 months.

Whoah, 4 months for the hinge issue?

I must be really lucky, and was able to find a repair shop here to have had the thing done in a day. This laptop has been with me for close to 2 years now, and I have to say I am still very much satisfied with the performance of this machine.

Though we consumer would want a full refund, depending on how long you have used it will determine FAIRNESS/UNFAIRNESS to both parties involved:

Consider this: How long was it in your possession?
And how long was it in "repair/broken" mode?

If the product came to you broken, then a full refund is JUST.
But if you managed to use it for a full month, then a REFUND is UNFAIR.

If your CC company simply wants a direct compatible model, m15 is no longer in production; then the only comparable is M15x.

But if your CC company is wanting you to purchase anopther $2.8K product, then get the M17x instead. You said you already have M11x, so M15x would not be logical choice. ie, you want a small gameboy on the go (M11x) and a big gameboy on the go (M17x).
