so after 1 year and 5 months of pain, breakdowns, several returns back to alienware, and also a Free whole new replacement. I finally sold and got rid of my beloved M15X after it came back from repairs, it was a great system but the build quality was horrible for something so expensive. I have moved on and bought a Dell Studio 16, Alienware has showed me power in a system but i will not buy from again....

You basically gave the same company your money, so I doubt anyone cares. lol
Seriously though, now that Dell is selling these systems for AW you won't have major problems ala m15x. -
left AW to buy Dell...lol! I thought everyone knew Dell owns Alienware.
-
-
You obviously haven't handled and M17x yet.
Strongest laptop build I have ever held. -
Trust me I know all the issues with the A51-m15x. The point is you didn't really change companies. Anyway congrats on your new system.
-
Didn't the old m15x have a crappy build anyway? I heard most peoples screen hinges eventually broke... The new aluminum chassis is supposed to cool well and be very sturdy

Why didn't you choose something else like sager?

meaningless posts are not necessary.

love that you're a mod batboy

the m15x was a disgrace to anything AW and i hate AW for doing that.
I do not agree with it for any second for keeping on the market, but i wish i could show you the M17x and m17x and their quality (which dwarfs the m15x)
So just remember that Dell now makes Alienware laptops NOT Alienware
(happy now batboy? meaningless threads are not needed as well)

Dell was in the picture but left Alienware alone which was their plan but early this year they sucked them up and stole their name -
Soon enough! Dell would buy everything on its way! aka the competitors!
But dell fails big time in online marketings... and also their delays with shipping is not up to the par.
If someone needs laptop for school/business, they may find dell attractive... but the built time for laptop would be more than a week... lets assume that... But who would want to wait for that period of time..... they would rather buy some other laptop instead of dell.. mainly due to the shipping delay.
You gotta agree.. ye? -

m=Santa Rosa, M=Montevina....although the M15x is not Montevina, they screwed up their own naming convention.

I'd laugh at some of the comments if Dell was in the picture when he made his purchase.
Right now the playing field is totally different and he's not going back to the same company, not a year and a half ago at least. Makes you all look like fools.
As for Dell's shipping time. My M17x came five days ahead of schedule. How is that a delay? It takes time bud, go buy one of the stock tops at Best Buy or something if you can't wait. -
Dell owned Alienware at the time of the m15x release. I believe that is the point everyone was trying to make. If he doesn't want to give his business to Alienware...which is owned by Dell then he shouldn't have bought a Dell.

Yes it seems I was wrong. Alienware was acquired in '06 and the M15x was released in '08.
Yet, even though his position is questionable, a Dell Studio is far different from an Alienware Area-51 M15x and he shouldn't be criticised.
That is like saying a person is a moron for buying a Toyota Camry because they were angry with a Lexus IS300. Well first, the IS300 is a luxury brand and the Camry has a different spec sheet.
Just because one is a division, or subsidiary, of another doesn't mean he's getting the same product.
edit: Luxury car, not brand, whoops -
This thread has run it's course too
