Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone with one a new shiney M15x has installed any form of Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, etc) on one yet?
The hardware is all very new so I'd like to heard some positive results before committing money towards one.
Thanks!

I am, but not in the way you think. I have a need to crank out Ruby code from time to time and Windows simply doesn't cut it, so Linux is the answer. However, as you pointed out, the machine is so new I sincerely doubt there'll be drivers for effective power management, AlienFX lighting control etc etc etc.
What I did was download Virtual Box and install Ubuntu as a virtual machine within Windows. Before you groan, it's actually awesome. I had to go into the Bios to enable the Core i7 Virtualization extensions, and then in Virtual Box I had to tell it to use the vt-x virtualization extensions and all related settings.
The end result now is that I have Ubuntu running at pretty much full speed, within Windows, for no money. So, I have access to all my Windows tools and the Alienware Windows drivers managing the machine, but Ubuntu giving me everything I need to get work done and just mess around.
It's a very cool setup and I honestly didn't believe that I'd ever be happy working with a virtual machine instead of installing an OS natively, but I am. This rocks.
