2)Follow prompt wait #3 Then it will ask your order number or #4 and do the steps below but for me they still say the same thing.

3)Now, select business/epp selection #2

4)Track order option #1

5)Then do it again - track order option #1

Please Note 1.2TB Raid 1 (2x 640GB 7,200RPM) they are not 7,200 rpm. They are 5,400 rpm dont be fooled. But when I get my ssd drive I have a good backup hard drives.

I don't think either system will make it's ETA.

Sounds like something I should have done

 

Everyone I am trying find out when the system is sent out not how or why. Basicly who or when the system will be sent out. So we can see when the review of the new system.

I am trying to be basic here. What I see is feb 2. to feb 8.

This give new users time to look understand and choice.

 

I've seen these threads done in the past when some people were getting their systems and others were not and they were trying to find out what part is delaying the order. It hasn't come to that yet. Knowing everyone's ETA should be enough.

Regardless the only difference between my two systems is one has 4GB 1333 memory and the other has 1066 memory.

Your post made me come up with an idea: Why shouldn't I order a R2 right now and playing around with it then return it to kill some time waiting for 5870M

 

hahaha, now thats the spirit! If it wasn't such a pain to get it out here and back to Dell, I'd be up for it too.

 

You'll probably be waiting at least 3 months of the 5870 and the return period is 21 days...doesn't add up. You can buy then sell like you did with the R1.

 

Or you can just sell the 4870's for $1000.00 dollars and pay an arm and a leg for the 5870s.

 

I ordered mine on Jan 22 and the estimated delivery is Feb 17.
I got a question, I remember someone posting a link somewhere around the Alienware section that would give you a detailed production stage on your order, been searching but can't find it, I did find a phone number to do it tho... If any of you know has the link for that could you share it?

Back to the topic, it seems Dell is delaying orders again right?

I remember by the time I ordered my R1 there are massive amount of people got delay for weeks and even months. After that time it took only a week or two from order date to EDD.

Rengsey, when did you place your order? You look like to be the first to get the R2.

Edit: No, Joker will be the first one on 3rd Feb.

 

Hopefully if my Resolution Specialist reply to my e-mail by monday and approves the expediting, I would get my unit around the same time Mandrake and Joker get theirs.

How do you guys get your orders expedited? When I ordered my system I wrote Dell an email kindly requested them to expedite my order for several good reasons but they answered me that all orders are treated equally and there is no way for me to get it sooner

 

Well, ever since my Resolution Specialist said " If I have anything that he can do to help me in the future, let him know ".. So i'm taking that offer. And I keep his e-mail address. I don't expect him to get my request approved all the time, but it's always worth a try.

 

If Mandrake's comes in on 2/2 he'll be the first to have it, mine comes a day later. Expediting won't happen because we tried already, they said there's a huge backlog and they aren't taking any expedite requests. If there is a part shortage, my guess would be the RGB LED since Dell had a shortage recently for M6500 orders (some people had to wait two months).

my order ETA. is 2-12 but is regular 5 days shipping since i live next to texas regular shipping is 1 or 2 days that was with my last orders at least, i hope i can get it 3 days before the ETA,

 

Got an e-mail from my res. specialist , and there are heavy backlog with the and he cannot push it through. He did got me a next business day delivery.

However, my order is still in the build phase last I checked, so I'm not holding my breath.

Also, Rengsey, I was going to get the 6 gig of ram, but noticed that it wasn't dual channel, as I don't think they make a 3 gig stick yet, so it will be a 4 gig and a 2 gig stick single channel. Just a FYI.

If it's your first order you can always leave it canceled.

 

It was my first order guys and it got canceled because of my rep. The lady I spoke to on the phone doesn't know why he canceled it and placed another order. She asked me if I wanted to wait for the new one to go through but I didn't bother since I already have the one in my signature that's still in production. Just e-mail your reps and find out if there's any part shortages because I wasn't able to get a clear answer for why mine was canceled by my rep.

 

I emailed mine today for an update and he didn't respond. I hope he just wasn't in. He's usually good at replying.

 

I actually got mine through the Dell epp program, because at the time I didn't realize that these notebooks were just released, and was asking if they gave a student discount on the m17x with core i7.

Turns out no, but I got a decent deal regardless. Even though my rep. kept saying it was through dell home services.

What department did you guys get yours through?

And here we go, cancellation #2. So are we making this the official order status thread for the R2? So take your bets, who will be the next one canceled? If i had to guess as to why, it would be either: 1. they're out of 4870s due to EOL 2. RGB LED shortage (most likely).

Since yours is an R1, the two things our orders had in common were the 4870s and 1333 mhz ram. If it is indeed the 4870s going EOL, maybe we'll all get upgraded to 5870s? If my latest order gets canceled, I'm going to fight to have it re-ordered at the same price w/5870s.

that really sucks. and i just got my order in here recently. and it has 4 gb 1333 and dual 4870s

 

my first order is 1066 and second one is 1333. Both orders still there.

 

So they told me
its just an internal code which needs to be refreshed and that s why they canceled my order

Had me worried with this cancellation stuff, I just checked online and it says is still in production, I also dialed the 1-800 number and also says in production "build" stage... I'll be checking daily.

 

I had a 2hr phone call with a senior manager in tech support on saturday, I ended up buying an area51 desktop.

I also talked at length about trying to get an r2 insted of the r1.

I got the impression that it would be a long wait and there was some sort of reason nobody has been shipped any yet.

I'm sorry i cant be clearer but it was kind of we can sort out getting the r1 changed to a r2 but it maybe a long wait before i would receive it and there was a problem behind the delays?

Its very late in UK 2am and its difficult to describe, this is all based on a feeling, but there was deffinetley a reason behind the hold up
