    As the title says, Im having a real hard time trying to find what happened to my webcam drivers. Skype says that "there is no available capture device."

    I think I may have uninstalled it to try and update it but now I cant find a place to update it.

    I know this prolly sounds noob, but Ive been trying to figure the solution out by myself for awhile now and always turns up empty handed.

    If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

    :confused:

    there's no separate webcam driver. it uses the built-in windows driver. go into device manager and you should see "Integrated Webcam" under Imaging Devices.

    When you install AlienSense, it adds "facap, FastAccess Video Capture". Maybe you need to edit aliensense to allow sharing the camera (under advanced settings)?

    if you don't see the webcam, scan for hardware changes and see if it gets picked up by P&P.

    I can't speak specifically for the M17, as I have an M17x. But when I did a fresh reinstall of Win 7 from my retail disk, my webcam was not functioning correctly; working in some apps, not being detected in others. I had to use the Alienware drivers disk and install the webcam drivers on the disk.

    Check out your device manager, hopefully it will name the brand of your webcam, and you can google it for the most recent drivers.

    Thats the problem Im having, there is no "Imaging Device" in device manager.

    I would have thought it would reninstall it automatically, but it does not.

    And if I try to DL the driver from aws page, it does nothing, i click setup and it does nothing

    that does not sound good. You should at least see something with an exclamation point in device manager.

    I dont think its dead, I know I personally uninstalled it from device manager thinking it would reinstall itself, but it never did.

    hmmm, turn on the "show hidden devices" and see if it pops up. next is to manually install new hardware and see of the webcam is on the list somewhere.

    i just had the same kind of problem. i turned off the bluetooth radio and it completely disappeared and I couldn't get it to turn back on. A couple reboots and it just reappeared.... {weird}
