it has been talked about. i think the m15x is still lacking the ability to utilize a lock without some sort of mod to the lock.

only the lock you can buy from AW really works... and only on some of the m15x's out there... no lock has been able to be proven to work on all m15x's without modding...

I know some people were saying on previous threads that the targus defcon cl lock works because of the way that it opens instead of turns. I have the lock and i can tell you that it DOES NOT work... dont even bother trying...

    Basically, the idea is:

The Security lock slot on the AW m15x was designed very poorly and the lock lays to deep within the chassis. This makes it impossible for most kind of locks to properly expand or turn inside the slot.

The way around this is the following:

As you know, most of the locks have a metal head. To prevent this metal part to come in direct contact with the chassis and erode it, most of the locks have some kind of plastic. Several users reported that if you remove this plastic (some locks, it just comes off... some, you have to cut it yourself), the extra depth that the lock can reach in the slot will make it possible for the lock to expand or turn or whatever.

Be warned that a user that did this, reported his chassis being scratched by the lock (as it's quite obvious as you have metal directly in contact with your plastic chassi).

The best thing you could do, is to take your laptop to a big computer shop and ask them to try different locks.

    Good luck

ps: AW was aware of this. Since May-June, they have said they were looking into finding a lock that would fit the m15x. They still haven't informed us of what lock that might be. And the most funny thing of all... they still keep selling the Defcon CL even though they know it doesn't work for the m15x (at least for the majority of users).
