HIya everyone, been reading this forum for awhile now trying to gather all the information i'll need to buy my m17x, still have a few questions though...

    1) I'm going to start with a dou core (my wife will shoot me if i go much over 2k) and a year or 2 down the line buy the quad off of ebay to upgrade....initially is either the 2.53. (+$45) or the 2.8g (+180) so much of a better performer that it's worth the upgrade money?

2)same question about the video card...i'm thinking 2 of the gtx 260's are the 280's going to make such a drastic diff that i have to have them?

    3) RAM - 4g 1066 ...i can upgrade to 4g 1333 for another 36 bucks....necessary?

Sorry for all the noobie questions but the laptop i'm running now is about 5 years old and i'm out of the loop as far as whats what anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

The system will be used for Warcraft, video editing, other random games...nothing too brutal.

    Thanks,
    Shawn

OK well guess noone was in the mood to shed any light on the subject :p

I went ahead and bought one anyyway yesterday.

    2.4 duo core
    dual 260's
    1200p screen
    4g ram

free tactX headset and mouse coming with it

They say it will take till jan 6th to get here...can't wait.
Till then i guess i'll continue to educate myself on the forum here, seems like just about any problem i *might* find with it is already covered in a thread somewhere.

I didnt even see this untill now or i wouldve recommended my system set-up. The T9600 is really good performance for its price. Maybe one 260 was enough for WOW but two is always better hehe. 4GB is plenty untill a new OS comes out. WUXGA is a must since you cant upgrade that. HDD is different for everyone else

I always get the hottest cards available at the time of order because they are impossible to get after the fact. Everything else can be acquired on eBay or Newegg. Even CPUs are less expensive on eBay. RAM and HDD are cheaper on Newegg. You got a good machine, and you'll be very happy with it's performance. Congratulations on your purchase.
