Looks like another delay?

I was just looking at the M15x's config and saw that the screens are on backorder, 2 weeks for 720p screen and 1 week for 1200p screen!!! I hope that it doesn't delay my order considering I have been sitting in phase 3 for 2 weeks now!

 

definitely call in to ask if yours will be held back

edit: just looking at the esimated time to build on new orders -- up to 50 days! that's insane

 

that estimated shipping date is longer than when the m15x had a huge amount of back orders. even though the shipping date is about 2 months now i think the most you will have to wait is around a month and a half since i had a estimated shipping date of 4/28 when i ordered on 3/3 and only had to wait a month and a half.

 

I'm going to e-mail them tonight then. I was told that mine would be put on priority due to the cases being delivered last week, and I want to know if there are going to be more delays for my system. I haven't had to wait as long as everyone by far, but it's better to know what is going on.

 

my estimated ship date is July 1st but idk how that is going to hold up..

 

@Livre: Let me know what you find out. you and I are on the same schedule (entered phase 1 on the same date). Though, you are in Canada, and I'm in the US. Still - they should be building our machines at the same relative time.

 

they build both the US and canadian machines down there in florida, so yes, you two should be relatively similar in moving through the phases.

 

wow what a delay. they are only selling 1 1/2 laptops right now. surely they can stock up plentifully on screen for ****** sake.

 

well, they are actually selling three, but I agree. supply management is not AW's strength

 

I just found a glich in the system. make out the first page of customization on the m15x configuration, press continue, go back, then press continue and it leaves you with the base price but you still have all of the high end parts selected

 

you sure about that? when I went back all the options reverted to base (along with price)

 

nope, also i cant push continue to actually go forward. it just brings me to windows customization. I dont know why they offer that. whoever cant customize the way that their vista looks should be shot and not allowed to but this laptop. anyways im using firefox, perhaps you are using something different?

 

yeah, I was using IE7. Anyway yeah I just tried it in firefox, you're right the options don't revert but when you add it to cart the options are still back to base (you can check the config in the shopping cart by clicking the laptop name; all the options are back to base).

 

So now since the new cases are out estimated ship date is June 23!!!

 

Can i ask, is this in UK or US?

 

...for the new cases. ripley is still 14 days behind skullcap.

 

yeah, what's up with that? Skullcap is just a differrent lid design, right? They'll use the same creeen componants, right? Why does the Ripley design have a later ship-date?

 

well, it's not how I thought they did this, but it is possible that Quanta pre-installs screens for AW. That means that this new shipment of skullcap would obviously have all of its screens with it.

I don't like that theory though cause then it doesn't explain how ripley can have a one-month case delay independently of this new screen delay (which it has now). If AW got a new shipment of ripley cases, and they all came with their pre-installed screens, then there should be no screen delay now.

 

unless there are enough people who have previously ordered Ripleys, and are still waiting in phase 4 or 5... (raises hand sheepishly)

yeah, I might. It's a bit annoying that I ordered a silver-Ripley on May 29, and the estimated ship-date for my order is July 3. Today the estimated ship-date for a Skullcap is June 23 - 10 days sooner. And a Ripley ordered today ships on the 7th (only 4 days after my ship date). Oh well. I guess that's the deal. No way I'm getting that skullcap design just to save time on shipping!

 

Still on Phase 4 Friar. I have the same expected shipping date and the same ordered date as you, so I e-mailed them to find out if mine would be delayed even more. Hopefully this will give both of us some answers. Waiting for July was bad enough, I don't want to find myself waiting until August!

 

yeah, I told my friend (who was waiting to order) to step on the gas as he's looking to get his before he heads off to uni -- and with that 50 day lead time, he's running out.

 

Yeah, tell him to order as soon as possible! I've been mucking about with my current laptop to try and extend it's life, but I'm worried it just won't make it before the m15x arrives.

Either way, I've e-mailed them and asked if it is going to cause a further delay (which would be my second so far) so hopefully I'll get priority shipping or something out of it.

 

Yep, I'm in that same boat. My current laptop (Dell) has a mother-board problem, and is BSODing more and more frequently. I'm ready for the m15x to ship!
