When told to shut down...it would go through the logging out process..screen would turn off...then nothing, it will keep running with the screen off. If won't turn off unless I hold the power button. This also happens when asked to hybernate. Also, the power button is hardly ever a solid blue. It's almost always flashing red. Even though everything is updated.

Well, what started this whole problem was my cat knocking down the sensor to my wireless mouse. I couldn't move both mice (wireless and pad), so I unplugged the wireless mouse sensor. After I did this, the computer gave me a blue screen stating that something happened (USB related) and was shutti g down to protect the system. Though it did as stated in the previous post (did not shut down). But now it won't turn off when I ask it too

Edit: I removed the battery and tried it again. Turned on then shut down. It fully shut down. So far so good. Thanks for the battery idea
