Hi all, first of all -great site and all of you provide a lot of information. I have been looking for a 14" and under laptop-capable of gaming along with basic stuff.

I saw the m11x yesterday and was impressed with the build quality, and the size. I have been considering that and something like the asus n81vp, at newegg with bing cash back for $785-free shipping.

I got on the dell web site and started a chat session with sales, here is the conversation:

i recently looked at the m11 x in person, liked the small size, and the nvidia card of course. but i am leaning very much towards a asus n81vp because of the processors. Is there any plans in the near future to at least provide a more powerful processor -granted battery time will be compromised-

    9:35:18 AM BE_PR1_Rep_Ace
yes greg, we have received a lot of clamor for a better processor for the m11x..and our technical team is huddling as of late on what to offer for the m11x..and we will keep you posted about further improvements on that machine

    9:36:02 AM greg
thank you, maybe i will hold off a bit on the asus then, any -vague time frame?

    9:37:13 AM BE_PR1_Rep_Ace
pls do sir, i just dont have a definitive time frame about it Greg, bec our marketing dept takes care of launch schedules

so it definitely looks like something is coming, my guess is they will continue to offer the current specs to keep it under $800 but offer another model with an different processor --for more money of course.

Quite frankly, I'd just go for the Asus n81vp. The processor is better but the ATi Mobility 4650 matches, if not marginally beats, the nVidia 335M.

Unless battery life is a highly significant factor for you, the Asus seems to fit your needs far better.

I'm guessing we will get a bunch of info at Computex (June 1-6) on the new revisions for alienware. I'm guessing it will confirm the Ci5/7um and give us a rough release date.... thats my hope at least :)
