now that some time has passed and the first initial wave of adopters have had some time to play/tweak, what are the M11x gaming experiences in regards to 1080p on external monitors via/HDMI?

Got your PM about this thread, but have been moving this past weekend, so not too much time to test.

Guess not too many people have shared their experiences though, hehe, but I'll add mine when I get a chance.

Good question! I have actually been using my m11x as my main computer hooked up to a 46inch Bravia TV in my bedroom. I have had all of my games set at 1366x768 because its easier when I take my system with me to have them at native display resolution. So after reading this, I set Just Cause 2 up to 1920x1080 and ran the Desert Benchmark. I like my games pretty, so all of my settings are on medium, except textures which is on high. AA is off and Anisotropic is on 2x. At 1366x768 I received a 30.7 frames per second average and at 1920x1080 I received a 29.5 frames per second. It looked amazing rendered at 1080p! Then for quick giggles I set Mass Effect 2 to 1080p which is using Ultra settings and it ran as smooth as butter! With the processor being the bottleneck in this unit, there is not much of a hit when switching to a higher resolution when the game is GPU dependant and the videocard is doing much of the work. I love this system! :)

Thanks for the test Ravenlocke! I'm shocked that there is almost no difference in framerate. I'd not have anticipated such results.

    +1 rep :)

I've only ever hooked up to an external monitor to watch 1080p movies which it has done without fault. Gaming wise, I've always played them on the m11x itself since I'm usually moving about.

After reading what Ravenlocke said, I definitely need to get this hooked up to my 72" tv that's in the basement.

All I've really done so far moving from a 15.4" 16:10 to this M11x was move my face closer to the screen.

Yeah, I'm thinking about picking one up tonight. I did some research on monitors, but it's hard to find any real data on them.. the optX is kind of expensive, but a majority of the monitors in that price range don't have any option to move the display in height and such, so it might end up being worth it.

Had mine connected to an Acer H223 22" true 1920x1080p 2ms monitor over HDMI and the M11x looks stunning and played Mass Effect fine but I didn't do any benchmarking. Might fire it up tonight/tomorrow & see what figures FRAPS shows.

Only have Mass Effect 1 & 2 plus The Witcher on my 80GB SSD at the moment.

Not big into Benchmarking, just using FRAPS to give me an idea on FPS. Did run 3DMark06 when I got it and CPU OC with Intel SSD got just over 6,500.
