So when I recieved my computer I uninstalled all that dell backup crap. However I was just wondering how does one go about doing a fresh factory re-install of everything, in the event I ever wanted to do that and have the computer the same way it was when I got it. I know it came with a windows restore disc, but does that disc contain all the device drivers, alienware software etc. or would i have to download those one at a time? Basically all I want is to have the peace of mind of being able to know if anything happens, I'll be able to do a factory clean reinstall of everything as simply as possible.

The DVD included with your M11x only contains Windows 7. All drivers, wallpapers and other customization need to be downloaded and installed after the fact.

I usually swap the original drive out or create a backup of it using Acronis so I can easily get the system back to it`s original state if needed.

Use the Dell DataSafe Local application and create an emergency recover USB stick. The USB drive will need to be approx. 8GB in size. Once you have it, stash it away somewhere safe. This will contain your factory image.

You can also access the factory restore by booting into the Windows Recovery Environment using F8 @ the BIOS screen.

If you have further questions, post them here, we already have a thread on the Recovery Partition:
